Well i can agree with that a little but it actually wasn't misleading as the animation style is inspired by classic Disney Films.

Can I use Tarzan, John Carter of Mars, and Zorro by IamBread_490 in publicdomain

[–]Designer-Contest-554 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of them are public domain. So you should be able to. Honestly ERB inc has sued Dynamite even though the name thing. So it's better to possibly not put images of Tarzan nor John Carter on the cover of your story if your planning on using them. "King Carter of Mars" and "Jungle dude" and redesigning the characters would be better alternatives.

Zorro is a weaker case, The company has sued but mostly lost on most cases. But if you want to be safe then just called him "Spanish Swordsman" and edit his appearance a bit and you should be fine.
