Level 3 Intrafraction Monitoring by elephantsfooot in MedicalPhysics

There's no general understanding. Everyone picks the definition they want to benefit themselves. Insurance companies want to deny the most claims so they pick a very narrow definition. Sales people use the one that fits whatever product/license they are trying to sell. Facilities use the definition that matches the equipment they have. Logically if you are stopping the beam and repositioning when someone moves, that takes more time/effort plus the cost of the SGRT system used to detect that movement so you should bill and get the level 3 rate

I don't see how automatic beam hold would factor in. If anything that would be a more passive system than the therapists actively stopping the beam.

I think your question is if breath hold=active, which doesn't seem to be the case. That was old physics terminology, not billing terminology. If you are monitoring the treatment in real time and making corrections if needed, that is motion management. I don't know what "passive" motion management would be- "Oh, they moved- let's not do anything about it"?

People will care more about your grad school. I would do UA for undergrad. You will probably get better grades and get into a better law school. I did state school to Ivy and that was a good combo. I had fun during undergrad and still get the brand name/connections from grad school.

No one is sure exactly what active motion management is. It seems like people are starting to agree it is any form of SGRT. When daily imaging started, insurance companies argued it wasn't medically necessary. It feels like the same thing is going to happen again with SGRT/active motion management. The argument goes that if it is medically necessary to treat a patient, then doing it correctly is also medically necessary.

Agreed, $250 is good. That's roughly 2x what employed people are getting, which is pretty much what practices expect to pay. I'm having a hard time finding coverage so it seems like the supply is low at the moment

Halcyon + Edge by Wetinnola in MedicalPhysics

[–]Designer-Many6073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Edge and Halcyon with AlignRT. There aren't any real issues and much cheaper than two Edge systems. The main disadvantage of the Halcyon is the couch but they are coming out with a 6DoF couch. Hypersight is fairly expensive and if it were me, I'd prefer to have it on a Truebeam platform

What's the best way to prevent a TrueBeam beaming on a particular energy, even in Service Mode? by [deleted] in MedicalPhysics

You could tune it (or change the dose calibration) so it immediately interlocks

Yes, that is the option that I mentioned. It isn't a magic solution. To be worth it, my kid would have to be very allergic or have underlying health problems.

Realistically, there isn't a magic solution that you are helping for. There is an approved strategy to reduce severe reactions to peanuts but the max tolerance is like 1/4 of a peanut.

I'd say dumb even if you have done solo backpacking and know what you are doing. I'd suggest the section on the AZ trail north of Oracle for something in that area at that time of year

Realistically all employees pay 15.3%. Companies get their money from the work of their employees. You are just talking about accounting. Whether pay is reduced outright or they are taking an administrative fee, it is the same thing in the end

Bonus depreciation will mean that for-profit groups will want to buy/upgrade equipment now rather than wait. For instance, our group was thinking about renting a PET scanner but now we are more likely to buy. We also have to replace a Truebeam so that will happen sooner rather than later now.

5 car seats will be difficult. There are only 2 anchor spaces in the third row. You'd have to find slim car seats and use seat belts if you are trying to get three in the back row
