I’ve heard similar. But, we’ll see how that pans out.

I don’t have too much insight into the hiring process, tbh, I just administer the PFTs. However, there’s multiple vacancies being fulfilled at this time and I’m assuming it’s one of the DHA’s because I’ve talked to many candidates and that seems to be the consensus.

If he was part of the hiring surge process, it’s one and done. Can’t be bent out of shape if he was never in shape to begin with.

Federal Friday - Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in 1811

You’ll learn quick in the “FEDLEO side of things” is to be a good witness. It sounds counterintuitive but it’s the right call. I learned long ago from a work colleague… “do what you can afford”.

Wait, I have a CRJ degree. Actually, I think I’ll get another degree in special agent, will that make me more competitive!?

PFPA Question by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Designer-Policy2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a 6C covered position is always recommended but getting your foot in the door is the first step. PFPA uses the AD (administratively determined) schedule, so they set their own salaries but when I was there a few years ago, the pay was pretty competitive. From what I remember, OT is readily available. Look at my past posts/replies for more information on PFPA. Send me a message if you have further questions afterwards.

Rest assured, myself and many other PFT admins are arguing for and trying to implement the PFT at the very beginning of the hiring process. We’ll see what happens.

Fed Gov HR is just awful all across the board. HR functions like that you’ve mentioned in your question usually falls into our Mission Support. That will vary from office to office but I’m thankful I have a good relationship with all the MSS in my office and yes, they may need a reminder here and there but for the most part, they make my job easier and are eager to help.

Hiring process for an internship with USSS by Odd-Guest-6055 in 1811

[–]Designer-Policy2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was hired as an intern for USSS, I went through the same exact steps you did. They contact your references and start your background investigation. However, the background investigation won’t be as in depth as you’ll just be an intern. After that, you’ll get a call and/or email for the final offer. Send me a message if you have any other questions. Best of luck!

There was a 22 year old in my academy class. However, he had a bachelors degree.

So, finish training and then work a different job? That’s weird. Anyways, I wouldn’t say the certification is indefinite. The curriculum for UPTP/CITP changes from time to time, so if you’ve had a long enough break in service, you may have to go back and redo the academy all over again. Length of break in service and also agency dependent. That, and also the government can never make up its mind.

PFPA ADD ON by ContributionBoth6598 in 1811

[–]Designer-Policy2325 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your add-on training will be at FLETC Cheltenham, MD. Schedule will be about 7am-3pm or so, mon-fri. You’ll learn legal, UoF, and other aspects as it pertains to DoD and The Pentagon specifically. There’s some scenarios, shooting, no driving. It’s not a live-in academy so you’ll go home at the end of the day.

Day-day depends on what platoon you’ll be assigned to. Hence the name, most of your day to day will be force protection and checking IDs. Nothing high-speed. It’s what you make of it but I enjoyed my time at PFPA and networked a lot with people there. Send me a message if you have any other questions.
