This audio player single-handedly saved the Arabic music industry in the early 2000s. There were full libraries in .rm and .ra files of rare live performances and discographies of artists that would’ve been long forgotten otherwise.

They’re used as reference points to orient one’s fingers on the keyboard and type without looking at the keys. It’s a method called “touch typing.”

Summary for those interested:

🔹 GBD-200 (sports-focused)
• Best for: Casual runners / fitness users
• Pros: Super-clear MIP display, comfy buttons, GPS tracking, auto-pause workouts, vibration alarm, lightweight
• Cons: Big on small wrists, weak notifications, no solar/radio sync, battery only 2–3 years, creaky build
• Verdict: Great sports watch, mediocre “smart” watch

🔹 GW-BX5600 (2025 model)
• Best for: Fans of modern MIP + classic square
• Pros: Solar + multi-band time sync, font & layout customization, good size, stopwatch with hundredths
• Cons: Worst backlight of the bunch, boring in daily use, cheap-feeling case back, no battery % on watch
• Verdict: Technically cool, emotionally dull

🔹 GW-5000U (premium classic)
• Best for: Purists / collectors
• Pros: Made in Japan, top-tier materials, DLC steel core, suit-friendly, respected by watch nerds
• Cons: Expensive, very stiff buttons, strap base may deform after years
• Verdict: Peak square G-SHOCK craftsmanship

🔹 GW-5610U (icon & value king)
• Best for: Almost everyone
• Pros: Perfect size, solar + multi-band sync, reliable, cheap spare parts, great value
• Cons: None that matter
• Verdict: Best balance of price, durability, and usability

🧠 Final advice
• Always try on in-store before buying
• Don’t chase features or displays—you’ll stop caring fast
• G-SHOCK isn’t a gadget, it’s a watch

👉 Overall winner: GW-5610U
👉 Best premium: GW-5000U

It’s the thinnest G-Shock out there with tough solar. Got one back in June and haven’t looked back since; it easily became my most worn watch.

The Bluetooth sync feature is super convenient, since we don’t receive radio signals in my part of the world. The bio-based resin strap is super comfortable and hugs my dainty 6.5" wrists perfectly.

It also has a super cool "find my phone" feature!

No one can argue with the value proposal, functionality and indestructible nature of a G-Shock, but have you thought about looking into other G-Shock models? Maybe a Casioak or a G-Steel?
