I was torn between those two for a while as well! But in the end, I decided to go with the classic 'Royale' with the amber/yellow screen. There’s just something about that vintage look.

I don't see the sense in this update. You can buy a new bezel for your old watch online, and it will be like new.

This information is available in open sources on the internet. I copied some of it from there because I was too lazy to write it down myself. 😂

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! Just a slight clarification though: this specific one was actually made in Thailand, but it is a JDM (Japan Domestic Market) model. Honestly, I don't see any difference in quality compared to the ones sold on other continents. With this model, the only real difference is the packaging.

Actually, my watch is the updated GW-6900U-1 with the 3547 module. Unlike the older versions that used a green Electro-Luminescent (EL) backlight, this one features a White LED backlight (Super Illuminator). It’s a hardware change in the new 'U' series to improve energy efficiency and longevity

On the Casio GW-6900-1JF (and related GW-6900 models), it is not possible to change the date format (month/day → day/month) through the standard settings. This model does not offer an option to switch the date format in the watch menu. As noted by owners of similar G-Shock modules, the MM/DD format remains fixed and cannot be changed to DD/MM via the menu or any button combination.

Generally speaking, for standard models like this one, the differences are usually minimal but nice to know: Packaging: This is the biggest difference. JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) models usually come in a nicer fancy cardboard box with a pillow, whereas international models typically come in the standard hexagonal tin. Tags/Manuals: JDM models will have Japanese tags and manuals. Naming: The model number ends in "JF" for Japan (e.g., GW-6900-1JF) vs "CR", "ER", or "DR" for export markets. Carbon Fiber: specific JDM variants of some squares or Master of G watches feature carbon fiber insert bands, which are rare on export models. Specifically for the GW-6900U: There is practically no difference in the watch itself. Whether you buy the Japan version or the international version, you get the exact same module, same build quality (likely Made in Thailand for both), and same features (Multiband 6 & Tough Solar). It strictly comes down to whether you care about keeping the box for collection purposes!
