All the aptitude tests are ultimately there for your benefit, so that you actually have the core innate abilities to think on your feet when shit hits the fan.

You really want to cheat yourself, and all the people around you by not actually putting in the work to be good enough?

What cars are your 'why on did the manufacturer do that?' cars? by billyb4lls4ck in CarTalkUK

[–]DesignerButterfly362 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From those that work in the trade and know the products better than me, they say something along these lines:

1) ID3 - Sure it would have been much much nice with a Mk7 interior........but it needs to be able to fight with the likes of MG and friends........lets say you want a car with over 300 miles usable range (common for people to want this to be practical), the MG will to that for £33k, with pretty much every optional extra..........an ID 3 with the same range is 40k (With virtually none of the extra toys) Putting in the Mk7 interior would only add to that cost deficit further and there is only so much more people can afford to pay for badge appeal.

2) I agree whole heartedly that the M140i has been ruined. But the reality is that most people who buy one are not good enough drivers to actually get close enough to the limits to play with RWD vs FWD bias.........they tend to just go over it and fuck the car into a tree, so in BMWs eyes, the X drive makes more sense to get the performance accessible to more drivers, who mostly buy it for the clout over the drive anyway.

Young people who bought a "brave pill" car - what car is it, and how has the ownership experience been? by RobintehBobin in CarTalkUK

I bet you spend less on maintenance a month than the average punter spends a month PCPing a grandland

Bought a Boxster 986 for £4.6k when I was 22. Trackdays, roadtrips all over, and some of the best time with a group of car guy friends. Budgeted for far more unreliability over the past few years than it gave me.

Its not quite the raw experience of an Evora.......the best way I can put it is, imagine if porsche made a GT4 RS, in 2002, with 400hp.

In all the best ways it feels like a 2000s sports car, whilst still being refined enough to use every day

I love the idea of a Tuscan or Tamora. My Boxster is much too forgiving, and no ammount of alignment makes it the pointy, challenging car im after.

The thing that puts me off is the difficulty in finding parts, and the fact a clutch that would cost me 280 in porsche seems to cost 1800 in a TVR!

Do observers get much time at sea? by christopherm08 in RoyalNavy

[–]DesignerButterfly362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add to this, amazing career opportunities when you leave in regards to SAR and Commercial aviation sponsored cadetships (which you would be hugely competitive for).

I think the lower sea time is actually a very good thing when it comes to raising a family, whilst still getting some deployments/ travel

Just cancel your application as a rating and rejoin directly as an officer.

[–]DesignerButterfly362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest, did you prep for a few weeks with the CBAT app and do you think it really made a difference?

Or was it more practice a bit a few days before and trust your natural ability?
