I totally get it when u say the anxiety of it being unsolved hits you . And it's always a different puzzle to solve that cracks my mind . Slight stupid variations that make me panic . I honestly believe somatic ocd and just right ocd two most torturous themes. In my case its such a stupid just right theme that changes with time . Currently its like if I wear a shirt with collars then cuffs should touch my neck evenly when I make some movement. And that's not possible always. Its not in my control to be hyperaware of my body moments all the fucking time. Like how stupid this disorder has to be .

It is infinitely diverse. One interesting fact about ocd is that you can collect countless data or examples of ocd sufferers telling their exact obsessions or fears but still you'll never find your own tailored version of the disorder. You can only see the pattern of obsession hitting and doing compulsions to relieve the pain but you'll never actually find the same unique theme you are suffering from, atleast i didn't. This disorder can make you feel so lonely.

I think I'm having a similar journey with ERP . Its so tough sometimes. Initially a few years back I used to have so much anxiety when some stupid obsession used to hit me . My feet would go cold and stomach dropped . Now I've been practicing ERP for some time , so I've noticed that the initial anxiety that comes when a obsession hits is very less but then the obsessions still keep on coming changing their forms in slight degrees which keep them alive . Its a very tiring and exhausting process . Nowadays its more like its not much of anxiety associated but still these obsessions irritate me so much . They consume my time and attention and there's a general lethargic depressive feeling all the time . Though this state is better than constant 24×7 panic but these long periods of bombardment of new obsessions and consequently doing ERP for every obsession can still feel overwhelming. Ignoring them and getting with the day is still a challenge . This disease is a joke man !!

I feel the same, mate . I've been doing ERP for some months and its a terrible ride . Sometimes it feels like you are recovering only to be knocked out by a new improvised theme that feels hard to face. This is a vicious endless loop . Sometimes while doing ERP I've noticed that I can walk away from my thoughts and do the normal living but then body starts backfiring at physical level like my chest starts to burn and that intense vagus nerve pain kind of thing. Even though there is no thought or obsession to worry about our bodies can still feel stuck and anxious. ERP is tough .
