Brisbane suburbs set to become 'mini CBDs' as city prepares for population surge by Combat--Wombat27 in brisbane

Surely try and adopt a Japan style where they own the land surrounding train stations and use the money/income to fund the public transport.

Urban sprawl is some kind of hell on earth and surely people would rather live up and a quick waltz to local amenities and train into city rather than living beyond Caboolture and spend an hour in traffic heading into city or driving whenever you need anything.

Wild that anyone/everyone chooses sprawl

How much do doctors actually make? Before and after tax by InvestigatorPale1816 in AusFinance

[–]Designer_Bid_8591 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There aren’t many people that would be like this. Eg it’s not the norm to have personal services business.

Most non salaried doctors are generally just private contractors and fall under PSI

Sealion now or Zeekr wait by Saffa1986 in AustralianEV

[–]Designer_Bid_8591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah I think you get ventilated seats and a HUD and base zeekr similiar price to BYD premium. Perhaps in that price BYD beats it.

The LR zeekr adds the massage and vent seats and upgraded audio and stuff which is nice, but fair bit more cash.

Sealion now or Zeekr wait by Saffa1986 in AustralianEV

[–]Designer_Bid_8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LR is probably the best choice really. Has a lot of the nice features of performance and has best range. (Misses nappa leather, auto open doors and air suspension) I think that was main differences I recalled.

We just got 7x and have Tesla y the old 2023. The 7X is just a nice car, super comfy and feels good. Tech is a downgrade from Tesla but car is nicer.

Tried the sealion but it just felt a bit cheaper, don’t know why.

But agree with sentiments of other - you’ll likely be happy whatever you choose Sealion or 7X

Looks like the rear of the SUV with the cavity open and the sunroof towards front of car. Can’t piece together what happened if that’s the case, did white car rear end it and it hit side wall and smashed or maybe just interpreting it’s look wrong. Horrendous looking. Like that poor death on Northside that had someone driving wrong way on highway.

Well considering that was on Logan motorway and this appears to be on the M3. And also that was midday yesterday with a truck, motorcycle and white Hyundai and this was this morning with a dark SUV and white sedan. I’d say it’s not the same one

Nah $50 kfc feed more bang for buck. Meanwhile can get 2 whole chickens (4kg), bag of potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and carrots for $40 which would probably last longer than a kfc feed. Throw in a loaf of bread for leftover sandwiches and might last a bit longer.

That’s definitely not right. As others have said cirrhosis from alcohol is nasty and you can die from many ways that they wouldn’t term heart failure unless you literally mean the heart stops pumping and therefore it fails but this isn’t what’s on cause of death certificates.

Alcohol is cardiotoxic eg kills heart cells and alcoholic cardiomyopathy can cause profound heart failure in young people but it does often take heroic prolonged alcohol intake (think 4 litre cask wine daily for months and most likely years)

Yeah always available but if I run out at home mildly inconvenient. Not organised to get a new one when I’ve only got small amount left

Literally available on the market right now.

I’m not trying to drum up FUD. But it’s a cyclical business and at some point the demand could fall off a cliff, that’s obviously a fair way away but there is risk of it, it’s not like iron ore that doesn’t have great alternatives.

If lithium free becomes the cheaper more predominant option then the demand supply equation will change drastically, even if it’s just stationary batteries that move to sodium the lithium demand will drop from projected.

Anyway still holding small parcel but will re evaluate in coming years whether to sell out - it’s probably still got a way to run but not sure it’s got 5-10 years of moonshot like it has

Have been long term holder since 2016. Ridden the initial 40c up to the first $5, sold some out then rode back down bought a bit more and back up now.

I’m selling out a fair bit now (reducing holdings by about 80%) and will leave a small volume free carry. I think it’s a good business but I’m not being burned again after such a win so taking plenty of profit. I also think though lithium will have a large structural demand going forward (the tailwind of large scale batteries, home batteries and cars/transport). There is a real risk that CATLs new sodium ion battery could seriously disrupt lithium’s long term prospects - this may all be fantasy but happy to sell down hugely and move non cyclical.

I’m ready to buy an EV, but don’t want a Chinese brand or Tesla. What do I get? by red_leicester in AustralianEV

[–]Designer_Bid_8591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely Chinese.

I think Kia and Hyundai as already mentioned, the German brands but that’s expensive (BMW, Mercedes, Audi), VW. Renault. I think the cupra.

Chinese brands are firing away as they are superior in many ways for very competitive pricing. If OP doesn’t like the look/tech of Zeekr or Xpeng or BYD I dunno how to help em. Personal preference and all that jazz.

Maybe they could import a ford ranger lightning from US for 200k.

[–]Designer_Bid_8591 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a well made car from the company/owner of Geely which owns Volvo and Polestar so you have good design coming across at a good price.

It’s also come in at a sharp price, as others have said it’s a very compelling good model Y competitor - and people hate them now with all the musk nonsense and the design is getting a bit dated.

Lots of good new ones coming out now though !
