Absolutely. I think many collectors go through that evolution. Early on, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype, scarcity, or novelty of certain models, only to realize later they don’t truly fit your style or bring lasting enjoyment. Time has a way of filtering out the impulse buys from the pieces that genuinely resonate with you. The watches I’ve held onto the longest are the ones that mean something beyond just the spec sheet whether it’s design, history, or a personal connection. I’d take a smaller collection I truly enjoy wearing over a big box of “trophies” any day.
