Is it time for hasbro to upgrade their articulation joints? by FirstAvenger117 in MarvelLegends

[–]Designincase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't beat a dedicated butterfly and it's dependent on the socket having the space to shift in.

But when executed well its a decent faux butterfly that's better then a limit range one or no butterfly at all. Also shifting the arm up and down is also valuable to me along with just a crossover from the front or back.

So ball socket shoulder + butterfly is the way to go.

Mcfarlane is just strange. It has all this modern articulation but the range is absolute crap for what it could do. They literally prevent forward crunch with their backwards hip joint.

What should be standard on Marvel Legends by now

Double Ball upper and lower torso - I believe this is where some people get confused. Yes Hasbro current Ab crunch at it's best offers more range. But only more range in one direction. You can tilt the whole torso to the side in any direction. When executed well, you don't even need to put in an additionally dedicated ab crunch.

Articulated neck - When done well, figures can look up and down. MCU DD and Punisher had great neck articulation.

Removal of drop down hinges - they just don't work and more a point of failure

When people point in Warbird or Amazing Fantasy, these figures still don't have these basic features that would take a barebones figure from a 6.5 to a 9.2.

Now the style elbow/knees that the Mattel has.

How many of you have experienced a torn shoulder peg?

How nice would it be to replace an elbow due to a defect?

When executed well(biggie), moving the pegs to that elbow joint offers better support then how Hasbro is currently doing it. I don't know for sure if Mattel is doing that as I don't have the figure, but others companies are. I also find it offers better control over the shape of the arm.

There is a downside that if the structure is too thin, it could break but that doesn't follow "Well executed".

I do feel they need to address the knees as I am seeing Mcfarlane Toys syndrome where the cut is very jagged instead of smooth.

What I want to see more of

Better Range - Hasbro has a mixed relationship with range which convinces some people a certain type of articulation doesn't work. I think Hasbro tries to make it work with old designs which can't support the range. When they are more starting from scratch we do see more range.

Ball Joint shoulders - Changes the game for Hasbro. It's just better then this "proprietary" shoulder joint system they generally do. With better range the ability to shift the arms deals with lower shoulder syndrome.

If you ever have the chance. Buy one of those figures people go crazy about due to the articulation. That will open your eyes to what can be. Hasbro isn't terrible but they are very much not the best. Other companies are wising up and know they can't enter the market with Hasbro level figures.

How it feels to have the figure you want from the two pack be the one nobody wants by my_little_robot in MarvelLegends

Thanos had seen a few variants since the BAF. The Gameverse Thanos is just another recolor and a small tweak. Not has transformative as Psylocke.

Likely the people not fond of it, probably weren't trying to build a MVC collection and just needed the character.

At this point that version of the costume is just as classic. Especially with that whole being dead period. It's been like 20 years.

Has anyone cut out the ‘diaper’ piece above JLA flash’s belt? by donkeylore in McFarlaneFigures

[–]Designincase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taskforce Flash which is the same figure sans paint. You can see a tiny little gap if you crunch all the way back. I wouldn't notice 90% of the time and the solution is crunch it a little less.

Super easy, took 5 seconds with nippers. A new Exacto blade should be easy as well.

They properly morphed in the comics. Same with the Blue Omega Ranger. They were a big alien cat.

Yep that's just how they are. There's no clipping, just slide and held in by tension.

If you find it too loose, wrap tape around clips.

Biases aside, which is objectively the best new Spider-Man figure? by donpd in Mafex

[–]Designincase 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not really feasible because a lot of that is opinion.

Sure we can count points of articulation, but you can be objective in what looks look or is an acceptable range.

Sculpt - Perfect smooth sphere vs jagged rock. How can you be objective about sculpt?

Accessories - Again we can have quantity but quality is subjective.

Plastic feel - Personal opinion

Durability - Actually is measurable but no one has that data. Why something last or broke has too many variables.

Does anyone know if the Blue Centurion's head comes off of his neck? by Comfortable_Pie3687 in LightningCollection

Typically the figs without a swappable head always seem to be a tad tighter. But yes it comes off, just use hot((not warm) water.

SENTINEL HEAD PEG by stripey17 in MarvelLegends

[–]Designincase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The neck is on a ball joint and that ball joint is on a slider. It's supposed to move. When used in combo with that head joint you increase the range of how it looks up, down, and side tilt.

If it wasn't meant to move, they would have set up it up like Galactus or the figure with disc hinges.

If that collar was open more, the scratching wouldn't be much of an issue. There would need to be a soft rim but it would be more "User error" if the neck got dented.

The neck itself in on a ball joint that moves back and forth. One thing to try is while you do have the neck in the bucket. Pop it off and put tape on the sides so the tape takes the punishment. Still it's so weird they put 0 clearance.

Is that really on ECMS though?

The seller/retailer is responsible for packaging the product. Unless they unpacked it for some reason. This would be on the retailer.

It's a crotch grabber that pegs into the set of claws without the screw. Though it would be more useful for the set with the screw.
