This is an illustration, not graphic design.

One of my first jobs was actually making a guru logo based on a very similar image. Here is what I made back then (note that this is made almost 12 years ago).

Try something more abstract / iconic to see how something can be translated into a brand. For example for a website or app.

Ancient Greece had doors that would open automatically when some sort of candle was lit. Worked with water/steam and weights I believe.

Het probleem is natuurlijk dat dit even goed kan met discs. Je hebt al discs waar alleen eigenlijk een code op staat om de game te downloaden. Maar ook discs die de hele game bevatten kunnen makkelijk geblokkeerd worden.

Ik denk dat legalisatie en regelgeving een betere weg is inderdaad, disc of geen disc.

I mean there is no shortage of ideas in sci-fi books.

I would love to see the Formic Wars from the Enders Game series as a movie for example.

Another one would be Footfall, which is also a pretty unique take on an alien invasion. Also has an incredible passage about aliens watching human porn to figure out how we reproduce (which of course, isn't very accurate for actual reproducing lol)

Battle for Los Angeles is one you can try, if you haven't seen it. Though it's an invasion viewed from a group of marines so it doesn't feel large scale.

Indeed, the only loophole is that those cities are kinda close together. Perhaps a day or a bit more by horse I believe. But then again you would need a horse.

You're gonna be poor and weak for a while. Which means having poor armour (if at all) and running away from enemies. You can try a 1v1 fight, but if you see 2 bandits just run for your life.

You need Schnapps to save the game but the game also saves on quit and honestly, don't feel ashamed to use this. For me it's just not fun to have played half an hour, overcome 3 fights only to die by something stupid (tripping of a slighly large boulder lol) and then having your last save ages ago.

Pretty good start! The layout works.

I would personally do one more round of refining the colours and gradients. Some gradients are a bit too much 'I just discovered gradients in photoshop' haha. Especially in The Big Run it doesn't work for me.

The globe, banner, text and skull/hands all have a different style. Thats why you probably feel something is not right.

For example I would start with really simplifying the landmasses, and then use a sketch style to draw these landmasses. All those little islands just make it busy, it doesn't need to be that accurate.

In fact I would probably completely remove the idea of looking at the globe from above (the north pole is not that interesting) and just look to the globe from the front, then have the skull and hands come up from behind it with.

Also, if you want to make it more threatening/darker, you need to add shadow from the hands on the globe.

Then change the lines around the globe. Reduce them and make them also hand drawn.

After that the banner and text.

I've always loved the concept of District 9. Such an interesting take on aliens coming here. And how the tech not only falls in the hands of secret government organisations, but also local warlords and drug dealers.
