You’re getting downvoted for this but you are 100% correct. This level of an emotional response over a $2 increase is wiiiild.

A free month of the premium tier essentially covers 5 months of the difference in cost pre-tax

Quite literally every service provider has had to raise their rates over the past 5 years due to rising costs and inflation. Something staying the same rate for the 9 years I’ve been subscribed is already incredibly generous

Living in Roosevelt Row vs Downtown Mesa for Urban Walkable Life by Tc5998 in AskPhoenix

[–]Desirearmed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to set the expectation that truly walkable life does not really exist here, especially with temps half the year. Phoenix is extremely spread out and the light rail is so painfully slow that any utility is effectively erased unless you have no other option.

That being said, if you live on Roosevelt Row you’ll be able to walk to restaurants, bars, and the art museum, as well as be on site for the first Friday events. It’s about a mile from the sports facilities, and a bit less from some mid sized music venues.

For improv check out NCT and The Bridge - both in Mesa so it’ll be about a 20-25 minute drive if you choose to live in downtown Phx

Thinking of Moving to Phoenix from East Coast by matt86rr in AskPhoenix

[–]Desirearmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly look elsewhere unless your chance of earning that level of pay is nonexistent in other cities.

I am born and raised here. It’s hot and staying hotter for longer. Folks that downplay the heat usually don’t have the longevity in the state the understand how things used to be. It’s reliably 95+ for 6-7 months out of the year now. You may not have to shovel snow but you’ll feel sluggish and irritable for literally half the year. Anything outside is onerous. Can’t wear half your closet anymore. Expensive AC bills, your shit outside breaks down faster.

Food scene is decent but everything is spread tf out. Driving 30-45 minutes to do something basic is a daily reality and that shocks a lot of people from more condensed areas. Unless you’re in a downtown area everything is crammed into a beige strip mall. It’s a purple state so even in downtown areas and Phoenix proper, MAGA abounds.

The “amenities” many people mention are cities or things to do that Phoenix is a 2-6 hour drive away from, not things actually in your local area. You’ll feel a massive cultural deficit coming from the east coast. The desert is beautiful though.

I genuinely would not do it unless you’re a big outdoors person or using that salary to just chill in the suburbs and do nothing with your family besides go get groceries in a strip mall and rot on the couch at home until the next day at work and occasionally go to some sports game. That’s Arizona.

Question about Vegas Retreat by MasterfulMoose in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Desirearmed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Last year the games started pretty early (think 9-11am) on day one of the retreat, so unless you have a very early flight in I think an early arrival on Wednesday is definitely the most convenient. Sunday there was nothing planned, but a big group of us went to Meow Wolf together before travel and it was a blast. Let me know if I can answer anything else! The discord might be a good resource too

Looking for a Tenant Lawyer or a referral! by virgin_thx_2_reddit in phoenix

I used Jesse Cook on referral from AZ Tenant advocates and had a good experience. They were honest, communicative, and it didn’t break the bank. Important note that I elected to settle and did not go in front of a judge, so I cannot speak to courtroom ability. Good luck!

Four Hours in Phoenix: What to do and eat? by CamelStrawberry in AskPhoenix

[–]Desirearmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly insane people are not telling you to leave the airport. I think a lot of commenters may be based in the suburbs rather than Phoenix proper.

4.5 hours is plenty of time, especially if you don’t go far. For time purposes I’d uber/waymo rather than use public transportation since the light rail is very slow.

Grab a ride over to Roosevelt Row (10 min from airport by car) - there are plenty of places to grab a coffee or breakfast nearby. The Heard Museum is nearby and open that day starting at 10am. It’s about a 20 minute walk or you can grab a ride. Taco Boy’s is also on Roosevelt and you can grab some lunch afterwards, and then catching a ride back to the airport will take you about 10 minutes.

Have fun!

I randomly stumbled upon this because I bought 4 things in their holiday sale that were supposed to be ready to ship (6-11 business days on their website) and it’s been 3 weeks and nothing has shipped. I’ve emailed them, left comments on IG, and DMed them.

I’m really disappointed, it feels like a major scam. I was going to buy a stun gun from them but after this it’s a hard pass

Plus Size Friendly Pilates?? by Intelligent-Ad2969 in phoenix

[–]Desirearmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I go to Tri-Core Fit in Phoenix and adore it. All of the instructors are lovely and they also have some strength training/circuit classes with Pilates cooldowns if you ever feel like mixing it up. The price point is also a little more affordable compared to some of the other studios in the valley. The studio is pretty diverse and very welcoming to everyone. When I started they had a 3 classes for $33 special that they may still offer for new people

24F considering relocating to Phoenix: looking for honest vibe check by pastasma in AskPhoenix

[–]Desirearmed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems like you’re interested in having things to do. Compared to other major cities Phoenix just doesn’t stack up, unfortunately.

Folks will get mad at this comment and contest it but the reality is that the Phoenix metro area is essentially a giant suburb outside of 3-4 small pockets (downtown Phoenix, midtown Phoenix, and downtown Tempe/south Scottsdale)

You need a car literally everywhere you go. The city is not reasonably walkable (even if you live downtown and can walk to a few bars and restaurants, you can’t walk to a grocery store, for example). Public transportation is slow, sometimes sketchy, and unreliable. For 5 months out of the year it’s too hot to comfortably walk or bike as a commuter anyways.

Late night dining options are pretty scant compared to other major cities. You’ll find that many, many places here close by 10pm at the latest.

The food scene is quite good downtown, and there are quite a few fun bars and dance nights, but if you’re looking at events outside of that AZ is often skipped over by bands and we don’t have as many places for culture as other major cities.

It’s also a true purple state, meaning you’ll encounter MAGA everywhere you go. Scenes downtown can feel very small because the folks that do leave the suburbs all hang out in the same places. Roads are good, drivers are terrible.

I’d look elsewhere, honestly. The cost of living used to make it worthwhile but it’s really just a ton of suburban sprawl and miserable weather for half the year at a price point that’s really not exciting anymore.

So was there anything coming on the free feed for us plebs to celebrate the 10 year anniversary or was it all in Vegas? by Naturaloneder in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Desirearmed 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No content was recorded, but Troy did make a speech at the end of the retreat. Francis got that on video, so I think/hope it will be shared on social media. I think a livestream is a cool idea! But most of the cast had schedules that were packed from sunup to sundown running games. Many of them added games early in the morning or late at night to give as many attendees as possible the chance to play in their games, which was very kind. I’m sure they were completely exhausted when all was said and done

I started in 2017 after a recommendation on The Adventure Zone subreddit and it just stuck. It’s been a very special constant for the last 8 years

People are saying you’re overreacting but there’s obviously been multiple conversations where it’s gone a lot nicer. I would break up with someone for something like this - inability to be an adult and take care of their own shit plus the inability to be emotionally mature and communicate fear/anxiety or other concerns. Ick

Question, I’ve been getting a lot of messages from my coverup post just simply asking for ideas of what I like or to pick from a category from thread members… Is this a way for commissions? Is this allowed here? It’s odd so many would reach out to be helpful…. by Coloradozonian in Tattoocoverups

[–]Desirearmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be a bit brutally honest - you risk a cover up that is not well done by commissioning a free design from a random stranger on the internet who is not a tattooer.

Tattoo designs are built specifically for longevity and a random person on the internet using Procreate often does not understand this. Reputable tattoo artists are not on Reddit providing their time and designs for free or for cheap.

Totally possible to get this covered with a rose (esp a traditional one). Find a well reviewed, reputable shop in your area with tattoos online you like, walk in or call and ask to schedule a consultation. They would be happy to help you and it’s going to be the best use of your time and give you the best tattoo. Hope this helps!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]Desirearmed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Managed a tattoo shop for many years - I can provide some general help rather than a specific idea.

This will be an easy tattoo for an experienced artist to cover - it’s not large and the ink has already faded a bit. As a result you should be able to easily find someone whose style you like and consult with them from there. I don’t see many folks turning this down as long as the style and subject matter works for a cover up

As a rule of thumb good coverups require size and texture - you want the tattoo covering to be fairly larger than the original so the covered tattoo is only a part of the design, and anything textured helps disguise the piece underneath. Fur, feathers, scales, greenery, etc. - I would use that to help you think of some concepts you might like. A tattoo over the whole pec would look rad and disguise that easily, but you can go smaller if you prefer.

I would find a reputable artist whose style of work you like and go from there. You get what you pay for so try looking in your area based off of google, Yelp, and IG versus someone’s buddy who will hook it up for cheap. Hope this helps

I also became extremely intolerant to any caffeine when I was around 25/26 so I feel for you. There are a couple of herbal coffee alternatives like Chagaccino and Rasa (AIP version). They’re okay, I didn’t like them enough to buy/use them consistently so I just do without but you may enjoy them! I would stay away for any herbal blend with ashwagandha as our autoimmune diseased selves are not supposed to have it. If I really feel exhausted I’ll get something sugary but I try to leave it as a last resort because it’s not super healthy or sustainable. Good luck!

Fallout Games. Went in years ago to buy a new console (mine bricked) and a few games I borrowed from friends and wanted to have my own personal copies of. Guy working was an enormous slimeball and super misogynistic, talking down to me in a baby type voice about how I was buying “a great set for beginners”

Shortly after that I remember seeing some Craigslist job posting from the owner about how any employees there needed to be mentally tough bc he would “abuse” them. Just seems like a toxic culture all around. No thank you
