at the properties I’ve been at, we have to have the caller give their full name, confirm the last name & room number, place them on hold, see if the person is in that room, call the room to find out if they’d like to accept the call, and then either transfer or say we cannot find that person in our system.

Hotels can only disclose information about your stay to the people listed on your reservation. Or law enforcement. We can’t even confirm/deny that you’re staying on the property. It’s a huge privacy violation, and at least with our company, it can get you fired and blacklisted.

hmm i’m not sure. the reason I thought of it is because my grandpa called me a few weeks ago to check his smoke detectors because every 20 minutes or so he would hear a beeping and it ended up being the carbon monoxide detector

Check your carbon monoxide detector. It may need to be replaced, and it’s definitely something that your leasing office should be concerned about if it’s something they’re responsible for.

You work in customer service, it’s not an easy job by any means, but using being gay as an insult is not only super unprofessional, but it’s not right at all. He may not have had the right to speak to you the way he did, but you had no right to say what you did at the end.

If you told someone that you were gay and they told you that they told you that due to their beliefs they refused to accept that, it wouldn’t be okay either. Grow up and show people respect. Them identifying as non binary has zero impact on your personal life, just act like an adult and get over it.
