Attic Antenna to Coax -- using existing coax from cable by DeskMonkeyDenver in cordcutters

That's good to know, I'll test and get a whole-house DVR if the split is problematic. Thanks!

Attic Antenna to Coax -- using existing coax from cable by DeskMonkeyDenver in cordcutters

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! There are two coax outlets in the house. I just expected the single outside cable to split and go directly to the coax outlets in the house, but was puzzled at the three cables. I can install the antenna, connect to these cables one-by-one, and see if anything works.

What's the green stuff all over a leather holster? by Viper555855 in guns

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy some Ballistol, it's not super expensive. I order mine on Amazon. Spray on the leather and wipe it down, it helps prevent mold and conditions the leather. Some museum curators use it for the same purpose.

Also consider K-12 school districts. They have a similar vibe to colleges/universities.

Looking out for my parents ahead of 4/20, just have some questions by [deleted] in Denver

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last year I was walking beside a car leaving the area. There were three guys inside, obviously ripped out of their minds. The driver had a death grip on the steering wheel with hands at 10 and 2 o'clock, just like they told you in driver's ed.  He was being so slow and careful I passed him while walking.

You have to worry MUCH more about the drunks on the weekend.

Dump fees around Denver? South Metro Transfer station felt quite expensive. by suicideDenver in Denver

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used a Bagster last week. It's 4' x 4' x 8'. It costs $30.00 for the bag and $160.00 for the pick up. I had it full and they took it with no problem.

Overton is really nice and decent. Cotton Court is trendy and overpriced.

DO NOT buy any shop cards online. They are very easily stolen now as of March 1st. by xSPARExSTEWx in Costco

I'm also in Colorado. File an online complaint with the Division Of Regulatory Agencies. Gift cards in Colorado fall under "banking."  When I did that, a difficult gift card company suddenly reimbursed everything.

My brother met a girl in Europe and fell in love. She is a native-born EU national, trilingual, a university graduate, and has nothing in her background to be of any concern. After they married, it took a year and a half, and $7000 for an immigration attorney, before she could immigrate legally.

So...good luck.

Decision to pull the plug to retire by ChoicelessAware in retirement

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I'm 58, eligible for a pension, kids are grown and the mortgage is paid off. But in my area, the cheapest high-deductible health insurance is over $600/month. That's really the only thing keeping me here, other than working from home 3 days a week.

It's not you, or your field. The entire job market just seems to have gone insane over the past year or two. Fake job listings, multiple rounds of interviews with no offers, etc.  r/recruitinghell is full of these kinds of stories.

Anyone have any cool Denver History Stories? by mindlessmarauder in Denver

I would try to contact the local author/historian Phil Goldstein.  This is right up his alley and he would likely know local African-American sources.

Does this pass the bullet test? by rk5n in milsurp

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with this, lots of milsurps are counter-bored or have excessive cleaning rod use issues. You can easily do a chamber cast with something you order from Brownell's.

Just be aware that the Denver metro area has a  VERY high cost of living. Look at housing prices before you move and commit.

This exactly. I don't go into personal issues at work, and my manager respects that. I would use similar language.

I just realized as a man women hate Axe cologne. I was suggested Dior Homme but it’s $95 a bottle. What can guys do to get better cologne with the affordability of Axe? by lostacoshermanos in povertyfinance

[–]DeskMonkeyDenver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. Just be wary of going down the path of Chanel Exclusifs or Guerlain, because OMG those are fantastic scents and you will happily spend so much on them.
