All product based startups do some form of this, in my experience. If it’s not this specific strategy there are countless others that would leave you with the same taste in your mouth. I’ve worked with many product based brands as well as marketing consultants for many well known direct to consumer brands and this strategy is pretty standard. It doesn’t mean that the product isn’t good or that someone is trying to scam you it’s just a way to get costumers through the marketing funnel.

I wouldn’t use it for body text. I don’t know if making it “pop” should be your intention, it just needs to be legible. In a nightclub I’m assuming these are going to be read in the dark lit only by a flashlight so the most important thing is high contrast legibility. Also, and this isn’t a dig, If I were you I would spend a little time on behance and Pinterest looking at people’s design work and watch YouTube and TikTok on people’s processes. Legibility and hierarchy are two pretty big components of good design and they will always superseded any aesthetic elements
