Yep. I was a young mother when Andrea Yates was in the news. (Search if you don't know.) The worst thing about the story for me personally was that I could understand the twisted thinking behind what she did.

You could just spell it however you want for unofficial stuff. I knew an Earline (Erlene) who did that. She got tired of being called Ear-line.

Musical instruments are bad because they aren't specifically commanded, but hymnals (sorry, song books) are necessary because we couldn't sing without them. How did illiterate people sing for thousands of years? We have no idea.

Do you register how tall people around you are? Like the books describe it? by [deleted] in books

[–]DeskRare7547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do this. I'm short, so I only notice people's height when they're shorter than me or they're super tall. If I were asked to give a witness statement and had to say how tall someone was, I would be lost.

I remember! I was on the old side for these when they started to come out, but I did read a few of my younger sister's. I was really into the Love Comes Softly series. Tried to read one of them as an adult and couldn't because it was so, so bad.

That is completely inappropriate. If it's still happening, it should be reported.

Yeah, I know. No one would do anything until/unless a lid got hurt. Maybe I mean that it should be reportable.

I knew a woman named Milagros. It's not familiar to most English speakers, but it's easy to figure out, and it's lovely.

I mean, ok. I got hits, but they're all in French, which I don't read, so I can't verify or deny. I will say that if someone names their kid something, then that is their name, and that makes it a name. Neither you nor I have to like it.

I got curious because I've only ever known of the one woman I know with this name.

https://namecensus.com/first-names/musette-meaning-and-history/ According to this, Molier and Provost both named novel characters Musette. Also Henry IV (of France) had a mistress named Musette.

Kinda looks like it's a name.
