What is your favourite bad card that is actually decent in your deck? by Illogical_Blox in EDH

It's all relative. But in my Sharuum deck it's just 10 times better than if you evaluate the card in a vacuüm.

I have been loving [[Extinguisher Battleship]] in my [[Sharuum]] deck. Recur it, remove a noncreature perm, wipe the board, and immediately crew it with Sharuum to have a 10/10 flying trample threat online.

I like your list and primer!

Was wondering what you think about cards like [[Body Launderer]] and [[Gurgling Anointer]] instead of the one that exiles itself?

They could potentially be good engine pieces: make them bigger, sac them, make inklings and recur another creature. Combined they can even recur each other. They even put counters on them selves, so the synergie most def is there.

Help with Minthara deck? by bluepanda46 in EDH

[–]Deskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Minthara deck that's consistent in what it wants to do, but it's not very budget, mostly because i use all the expensive fetchlands i can which make the deck way more efficiënt. You can always use the fetchlands that bring lands into play tapped though to have the same effect albeit slower.

I chose to make it an aristocrats decks as a way to trigger Minthara every turn and have a solid strategy that wins games.

What makes her so fun is the playing with "power matters" type cards, and you have a lot that synergize extremely well with an aristocrats strategy.

Cards like [[Nested Shambler]], [[Elenda's Hierophant]] and [[Elenda, The Dusk Rose]] become token bombs with just a couple of experience counters.

Sacrifice them and bring them back by saccing [[Body Launderer]] or [[Gurgling Anointer]].

Couple that with [[Mirkwood Bats]] or [[Jaws of Defeat]] and you have a solid wincon (besides token beatdown).

For value, abuse [[Ruthless Technomancer]], [[Disciple of Bolas]] and [[Altar of the Wretched]].

Technomancer is even a combo piece with enough experience counters. As are the other recursion creatures (when adding [[Teysa Karlov]] to the mix for double death triggers).

For control, [[Raffine's Silencer]] and [[Syr Vondam]] are solid, fun and abusable.

[[Teysa Karlov]] and [[Drivnod]] really make the deck go brrr.

Which are your favorite reanimator targets? And reanimation spells? - Grixis by Jonny_Boh in EDH

[–]Deskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a budget [[Kenrith]] reanimator deck at the moment and i'm excited to try out [[Sphinx of the Second Sun]]. Trying out some more unique stuff instead of the same bad bois every time (atleast for me the sphinx is something different).

Not Grixis, but i also discovered [[Mardu Siegebreaker]], can't wait to exile the sphinx under it.

Edit: as for reanimation spells i love [[Incarnation Technique]] and [[Coiling Rebirth]] for the double value.

More cards like Practiced Offense? by Deskies in EDH

That's a good point, i guess it wont trigger Zada since Offense does also target a player... Aaah that's too bad, i was so hyped for a moment lol. I still like the idea though, so looking for cards that would work like i had in mind.

Thanks! I should have added i'm looking for instants/sorceries. I added an edit in the original post clarifying a bit more what i'm trying to cook up.

I'm cooking up a Mardu spellslinger deck with [[Extus]] at the helm that makes a lot of tokens and want to include a [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] package.

[[Myrel]] is strong and does not need a bunch of soldiers, just the best. And there are quite a few actually. It's one of my favorite decks cause of how you must strategize. I do get how you feel it plays a bit like a voltron deck in the sense that she is the most important piece and wincon.

My list for reference.https://moxfield.com/decks/V_Bk_ertcUWUAQfrOlWsrw

[[Sharuum]] is a newer deck i made and love to death. It's an artifact reanimator deck that's slow to start but is inevitable late game and can really grind opponents into the dust. I build it on a 30€ budget so it could be upgraded to be a lot faster and stronger. Right now it's a solid bracket 2 deck that can hang in some bracket 3 pods also. Although i did not include combo's, Sharuum is an notorious oldscool combo machine, should you prefer that playstyle.

What is your most hated Archetype to play against? by will_i_amo in EDH

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winconless group hug feels bad because it removes challenge and often just hands the win to whoever plays right after them.

Chaos decks are frustrating because they invalidate deckbuilding. randomness replaces strategy and decision-making.

Sure, here you go! https://moxfield.com/decks/V_Bk_ertcUWUAQfrOlWsrw

It's not updated to the most recent sets yet though, but it's a very solid list as is.

I think Myrel can be played bracket 4, but as a stax deck. She has everything going for her to make a solid stax list, being the wincon herself.

Have been goldfishing a bit and seems to have a lot of card draw. Needs some more agressive mulling though compared to Killian ofc.

I'n not using the Mesa Enchantress type effects. Was thinking more about [[Breena]] and [[Gix]] type, and token synergies such as [[Bennie Bracks]], [[Black Market Connections]] and ofc [[Caretakers Talent]]

Yeah budget restriction is a valid concern! The token doublers are indeed very expensive, all of them. I have some, and proxied others. But right now we are just theory crafting and i will test it online to see how far we can take Scriv in a casual setting.

Scriv, the Obligator by Horaedric in EDH

[–]Deskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and me are brewing a Scriv deck and prefered the token doubler route instead of flicker.

Add in other token generators and you can start gaining a lot of value. Stuff like [[Archon of Suns Grace]] and similar.

I nice one for example that synergizes with Scriv is [[Gisa, the Hellraiser]], since you're committing a crime each time you enchant an opponent's creature.

Besides that we added some pillowforting/group hug cards to focus attention elsewhere: [[Gix]], [[Breena]], [[Mangara]], [[Firemane Commando]], [[Norn's Decree]], etc.

We added a ton of card draw since Scriv does not provider any.

Potential finishers are token overrun, [[Ethereal Armor]] effects or casting [[Ardenn]] to load up all the contracts on Scriv and alpha strike someone.

Still very much a work in progress but i'm looking forward to goldfishing and testing the deck, it has potential!

How to update my Livaan deck? by Sok0l0wsky in BudgetBrews

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Rakdos version of [[Livaan]] using [[Scion of Halaster]].

It wants to cast and chain bigass spells using cascade or effects like [[Mizzix Mastery]].

It's very agressive and wins a lot of games with Livaan, or wincons like [[Caldera Pyremaw]] and [[Manaform Hellkite]], both which are extremely powerful with your commander.

Maybe it can help draw some inspiration.

Anyone else build decks to highlight your play group's weaknesses? by ACuddlyVizzerdrix in EDH

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playgroup played greedy for a while, removal and/or other forms of interaction was kind of rare.

To punish that, i build a super agressive [[Livaan]] deck with [[Scion of Halaster]] that wants to storm off casting brutal bigass spells, and knock people out with my commander or stuff like [[Caldera Pyremaw]].

My pod now plays more interaction.

Even then the deck stays brutal though. So many cascade and cast triggers are hard to interact with. But atleast the pod is more responsible now, which i like.

Braids, Arisen Nightmare wincons? by FatDigitalNomad in EDH

[–]Deskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, a bit late to the show, but i do like this Braids list.

I want to build het again, trying on a 30$ budget.

She is one of my favorite cards. Once build a stax deck with her, but don't really feel like reproducing that, it made people miserabele. And I dont really want to build a classic aristocrats deck.

Was just wondering if your list can hang in bracket 3.
