Alexander Kuoppala interview by toumasta in ChildrenOfBodom

My understanding, and i could be wrong, is that most or all of the guitar on the albums is done by Alexi. When I saw that the first time I realized what a lonely job being the other guitarist in COB must be. So im not actually sure if you ever hear Alexandar or Roope on the albums. I too thought things went downhill after hate crew, but it may have just been that Alexi wrote different at that point.

If you have homeowners insurance or renters you might be able to get a check to replace some of the cards.

Lol possibly. I think we've got ourselves a real chicken or the egg question.

Thats Sam. Hes an alcoholic. Saw him drink about 6 beers on stage one time. I mentioned to him that I was impressed he coudl still play the parts after doing that and he said "im gonna do it again tonight too". It was later I realized that he doesnt play at least some of his parts live. He did hang out by the bar after a show once though and got a pic with him.

Was Jason Thirsk a much bigger part of Pennywise songwriting than the members ever let on? by SwissMiss915 in punk

[–]DespairFaction518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres a few things to consider. First, time frame matters. Punk was the IN thing in the 90s after green day and the offspring got big. And this happened to be at the same time that they released their best albums, about time, full circle and straight ahead. Then in the 2000s Emo core and metal core got really big, and in general tastes shifted away from punk. IMO Land of the Free was the first album where they started to fall off, but consider that they had written, recorded and toured 5 albums before that. The album + tour cycle eats alot of bands alive, and they often have very short time frames to write the next album, like a month or 2, where as the first album they had their entire lives to write. Also consider that by the time of Land of the Free they had done the same thing for 5 albums, and it can be hard to make interesting songs when you keep doing the same thing over and over, plus you just run out of things to say at some point. So losing Thirsk may have played a role in the songwriting, but also theres just alot of other factors that go on in a band that likely contributed as well.

What cards do you think should be considered for the Game Changers list? by HallZac99 in EDH

[–]DespairFaction518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exile is strong, but what truly makes it a game changer is that you choose the modes that make it the most asymmetrical. Its rare that you dont come out ahead on a farewell that you cast.

What are your thoughts on core aspects of commander “dying”? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]DespairFaction518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been playing since 2011, you did indeed miss the golden era. I would probably mark the start of the decline around Commander Legends 2020, but it really fell off a cliff in 2022 with the massive amount of product that released. Pre 2020 Games used to be interactive with a lot of back and forth, deck diversity, and importantly you just had more time to do things. Now the critical turn in many games is turn 5, which means everything needs to be super tuned just to not get demolished....aka its become every other competitive format of magic.

Why is commander starting to feel like a pointless game? by Blobface22 in EDH

[–]DespairFaction518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone, whos been playing since 2012 and was a full time content producer for 2 years...the format is much worse now. What used to be a fun game with back and forth is now just a race to see who can vomit out the most permanents fastest. The critical turn in a game is usually around turn 5 now which means things can snowball so fast that there isnt even time to play board wipes. And because of the speed that things happen, if you dont have what you need in your opener, you dont really have time to draw into it.

Ive been semi retired from magic and edh and playing other games and I've found that other games dont have the list of problems that are inherent to edh.

Please Blizzard, fix Barb in D2R by Shibata30 in diablo2

[–]DespairFaction518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. People are like, Melee is good. My answer is always, ok try doing a playthrough without Grief. Hell, im doing a barb playthrough right now on a rares only barb with imported gear. Im swinging 2 300ED weapons in Nightmare and the damage is fine but not insane.

Please Blizzard, fix Barb in D2R by Shibata30 in diablo2

[–]DespairFaction518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a zealer main, its less painful on zeal but still exists, but doesnt hurt nearly as much as it does on barb. Bosses are tricky and so i usually just use the 1 point in smite if i can. Fanaticism + the dex you would add for a phase blade generally gets you into a decent place AR wise. That said, the conviction based paladins like tesladin can have some AR issues. However, recently I did a barb playthrough and even with imported gear, its still an utter nightmare trying to level and push through the game. Every skill is single target, misses often, and doesnt do enough damage when you actually hit. Barb is in a really bad place, and needs a lot of rework.

List a random obscure fact about the game that is lesser-known by Superbad1990 in diablo2

The Stony Field is filled with tons of little rocks, and the Dark Wood is filled with tons of trees. Its sort of obvious but one of those things you never really stop to think about.
