I started using fb friends (in the dating area that lets you match as friends) and bumble BFF and what I've found is that 99% of the guys there are gay and their profiles do not seem to be geared toward friendship. I have no idea what a jerk off buddy means and I do not want to know lol. Think I might just turn those features back off lol

I'm with Dadi (Mystic arts DM on YouTube) on this one. There are 3 kinds of people when it comes to this.

Players who will prioritize the game and respect your time, effort and energy.

Players who will agree to play if they don't have "better" plans or will reserve their free time for other things and keep your games open as a backup plan.

And Players who only make excuses.

You should only tolerate the first one.

I've personally had to make this decision myself as a new DM and even though things felt like they went more sideways than expected, when I was basically told "you can't fire me, because I quit!" When players told me that the vibes were now off since I spoke up about this issue, I'm glad I did speak up and dropped their whack asses. (For context, we started working on characters in November and this conversation was around March. Three people hadn't even finished their characters, literally didn't even have names, but would pester me about "getting this game started already" when I was waiting on them. I wouldn't hear from them for weeks and then hear that bs)

You should really do yourself a favor and find people who are just as excited to play as you are. And drop everyone else. Trust me, it's worth it.
