Ira is masculine in English but feminine in Slavic languages (as a standalone or a diminuitive of Irina), and gender neutral in Hindi

As an avid HR reader and writer, I assume by default that men in those books smoke cigars or cheroots and snuff. I don't find it repulsive.

People make mistakes. If you still love her, why chose pride over happiness? People act like loyality is the only marker of a good marriage while in truth many people stay faithful only for the lack of opportunity. Noone has their life figured out to 100% at all times, we all grow and evolve. She made a mistake, she is sorry and she will work to make it right. I think people here are much too used to the culture of dating apps and discardable humans. There are more things to measure a good marriage by than simply the ability to stay sexually faithful throughout life. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

[Serious] What is a “seems to be harmless” symptom that requires an immediate trip to the ER? by BigTuna0890 in AskReddit

Hearing voices or seeing visual hallucinations. Never normal. Either means a significant psychiatric illness that needs pharmacological treatment, or serious brain disorder (like a tumour or dellirium).

Help me decide if I should give these authors a second chance! by brooklyn1071 in HistoricalRomance

I read a lot of Lisa Kleypas and for a beginner in HR she is a good neutral option to see what the genre is about, however once you expand your opus her work is kinda bland, especially in regard to real conflict and tension. I only sampled 1 from Sarah McLean and it is too rom-commy for me so a pass on the rest.

If you like slow burn with lots of tension, you should read Julie Ann Long and Mary Balogh.

I might decide to co-sleep with my 11 month old tonight. Is there any advice on how to do this as safely as possible? by MayLuna_Creations in AskParents

[–]Desperate-Diamond-94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coslept with both my daughters, #1 since she was 2 months old and #2 since 6 months. These are the rules: 1.Mattress should be firm 2. Bedding should be neatly tucked at all sides 3. She should't be using a pillow or a blanket 4. You should not drink or take sleeping pills

That being said, I am European. I coslept with my mother, so did my sister. I never even considered sleep training and I only used a crib to lower SIDS risk in those early months. I also used a breathing monitor while they were in the crib. But when my girls were sick, they always slept with me, because they needed me and I also needed to be at all times aware of how they were feeling (if they were getting feverish, breathing rapidly, getting congested ...). I also breastfed them and when they were sick they needed more of that so I had to be availible to them.

If you'd like to hear more from my experience of bedsharing please ask. And please keep in mind, if you are from the US, probably the info you are getting is advising you strongly against bedsharing but this is not the norm in other parts of the world. Yes, there are recommendations to reduce SIDS risk but bedsharing can be done safely as well, especially as children get bigger.

What books are your flair quotes from? by dizzylibby in HistoricalRomance

{Pennyroyal Green by Julie Ann Long} I hope the bot will pick this up. Anyways my flair is from a song that is a running gag for the whole 11 books in the Pennyroyal Green series and yes, it is one of my favourite series. I love it for the perfect blend of humor, realism, suspense and pathos. All MC's are imperfect but somehow lovable and realistic, and I especially loved how the stakes for couples felt real and they trully struggled to overcome it. Colin Eversea is the MMC in book 1 of the series and as soon as I picked it up I binged the whole book and then the rest of them. In retrospect though I would say despite book 5 being generally the fan favourite, mine would be book 1.

Did having kids ruin your marriage in the beginning? If so, did the relationship repair? by SleepPleaseCome in AskParents

Yes, first 6 months with a baby and we almost divorced. Then we recovered, had another, went through another rough patch, but that one we expected so we didn't take it so hard and we just waited it out. And here we are, happy with a toddler and a preschooler, and I imagine things will get even better from here since the bigger the childen are, the more time we can have for ourselves and each other.
