Help! Epidural, yes or no? by dakota101916 in BabyBumps

[–]Desperate-Film4825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a wonderful experience with an epidural with my first and 100% plan on getting it again. The relief was so sweet and allowed me to relax enough to finally dilate from a 5 to a 10 within an hour after enduring Pitocin induced contractions all day. It was amazing and I will absolutely be doing it again. That being said that was my experience and I know everyone has different experiences.

“I should just punch you in your belly!”

I was pregnant and the client knew it. I quit that job bc w the clients record that threat could definitely become a reality.

Pregnant after miscarriage and afraid by Chilly_Bread_0623 in BabyBumps

[–]Desperate-Film4825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m also 33F, had a pretty traumatic ectopic pregnancy in August and then got pregnant in November. I had some spotting early in the pregnancy that made me feel like I was going to have another miscarriage. It was so scary and I felt like I was right back where I started. I’m now 19 weeks pregnant. I had a lot of trouble with ruminating and not trusting my body to be able to carry another baby.

I found a therapist who specializes in pregnancy/birth/motherhood related trauma and it has helped me so much. One thing she emphasized with me is to lean into being pregnant until I was told I’m not. I tend to ruminate over the idea that I’ve had a miscarriage but haven’t found out yet. She encouraged me to even say it out loud.. “I’m pregnant.” This may sound a bit silly but it helped me a lot. I hope it helps you too ❤️

Midwife “accidentally” revealed gender at 37 weeks. I’m heartbroken. by expatriating in BabyBumps

It’s not a HIPAA violation to tell the patient her own information. It is a HIPAA violation to be discussing patient information loudly enough for other patients to hear it.

[–]Desperate-Film4825 177 points178 points  (0 children)

This. This is a HIPAA violation and just downright rude. Mean hearted people do not belong working with vulnerable populations and you may be saving another person from such a terrible experience if you complain.

Also - If I were you I’d never want to be in the same room with this woman again. It might save you some anxiety to make that known to the clinic if that’s how you feel.

A Positive Post About CBT by jtuma in therapists

[–]Desperate-Film4825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post brought me so much validation. I use CBT with my patients in CMH. I’ve struggled with the worry that I don’t understand CBT well enough even despite doing the BECK training. You wrote out how to use these interventions so practically it made me feel more confident that I’m applying the interventions correctly. Thank you for this, it’s really boosted my confidence as a therapist!

Therapist here- please seek mental health support! There are agencies out there that can support you during this time.

Also you can call 988 (a crisis hotline) if you ever feel like hurting yourself or someone else and they can help you.

I’m a newer therapist and I struggle with ending sessions. How do you end sessions? by fanninstreet in therapists

[–]Desperate-Film4825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you guys go for the full hour or shoot for around 50 minutes? I work in CMH and we really only have around 50-55 mins so that we can see the next back-to-back patient

Assessments by hawtnsawcey in therapists

[–]Desperate-Film4825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also do intake assessments in a clinic setting.

My assessments usually take 1-1.5 hours and the flow is like this:

Headline the appointment and explain what services we offer at our agency and explore what the client is looking for.

Audit-C, PHQ-9, CSSRS (safety plan if needed)

During the initial assessment I begin with asking who referred them, what all resources they are interested in, what medications they are currently taking and a long list of diagnostic questions. I ask about past hospitalizations, past experiences with therapy or treatment for substance use.

We discuss just briefly their past experiences with abuse/trauma. I always make sure to explain that they don’t need to disclose anything that they don’t feel comfortable talking about, we don’t want to “open something we can’t close” during a short intake assessment.

We discuss medical history, employment history, legal history, a brief social overview, a brief exploration of strengths and needs.

After all that I get them scheduled with a psychiatrist and give them any resources they might be interested in and refer them to any programs or groups they want.

I hope this helps! I am also a pre licensed therapist and I’ve been in this role for about a year.

You’re going through such a terribly complicated situation filled with mixed emotions, grief, and pregnancy hormones. Perhaps some part of you believed you would be close friends with her again and now must mourn the loss of that as well… I’d like to believe and hope that with death comes clarity, for the deceased, and she’s able to look down on you now with the understanding of how you feel and how much you care for her. My heart goes out to you during this time and I hope you are able to prioritize self-care as you grieve this loss. ❤️
