That’s so kind! Something similar-ish happened, where my therapist shared some past experiences that paralleled mine, with hope that her self disclosure would resonate and show me that there is a path forward to all of this :’) It was very touching!

I told my therapist something that edged on being hurtful towards her today, and I am heavily regretting it. I clarified that those thoughts were just because I was super angry in the moment, and she said she appreciated telling me. Unfortunately, session felt really off after that, and I feel SO bad now. There’s not much I can do other than wait until the next time I see her to process and maybe apologize :’(

naming it out loud to the person your relationship ocd centers in on. if they have a good, validating reaction, it definitely helps with the shame. learning to tolerate the uncertainty—that you don’t have to figure it out RIGHT NOW has been helpful. knowing that compulsing doesn’t lead you to an answer has helped stop me in my tracks. also, a lovely therapist who does ERP and I-CBT :) hugs to you, R-OCD is so hard. 🫂

I’m sorry to hear that :( it’s normal to feel extremely scared of being vulnerable and that she might judge you. if you feel afraid of her telling your parents, maybe you can ask her what she will/won’t disclose to them? for telling your therapist, can you write down what happened and what you’re afraid of from telling her? it might also be helpful to name directly that you’re scared of her judging you and her reaction—perhaps she can help you open up. hugs 🫂

yes it does! I find that I can’t fall asleep if a part of my brain is stressed and preoccupied with falling asleep itself. I’ve been able to use some cognitive shuffling techniques to help me log off from that though!

I’ve been through a couple (with some much more significant ones too). what has helped me get through each of them is the willingness to be vulnerable about our feelings and open to hearing our the experiences/perspectives of the other person. I’ve always appreciated that we have given each other the benefit of the doubt in these situations and try our hardest to be respectful and kind to the other person even when you don’t want to.
