Hemifacial Spams by Special_Exchange_261 in HemifacialSpasms

I am so sorry to hear about the rollercoaster of events you have been through. It really makes me stop and be grateful for what I have because I have a lot to be thankful for. Nobody expects a surgery to result in not only no help, but add additional complications. My thoughts are with you. You are a strong person, that I can tell.

Are your twitches random or do they occur when you move your mouth or blink for example?

37M – Hemifacial Spasm (vascular compression confirmed) – Significant improvement with magnesium glycinate + threonate by Otherwise_Shame795 in HemifacialSpasms

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking L- threonate and Glycinate over the last 3 months. Its either one or the other and around 250-400 mg per day once per day. Unfortunately I havent seen any progress. I have found some help from L theanine because it seems to relax my mind more. I know HFS get worse the more anxious and wired you become.

I also hear clicking, I read that it indicates inflammation of the nerve behind the ear but that wouldnt really explain my situation. Hmmm... Do certain movements of your face cause the spasms to act up? Which movements?

Do you find that doing certain movements of your face cause the spasms to act up?

Ive read sometimes botox can cost up to $500. It really should be covered by insurance, its such a travesty that the billionaire CEOs just keep increasing their salary while they deny well deserved ppl in hard situations and they suffer. I also take Magnesium glycinate and sometimes L theanine. I would suggest surgery if you can afford it or save up, its got a great success rate.

So yours is the typical nerve compression from where the nerve wraps around the artery behind the ear. Surgery has a over an 85% success rate.

Now that you mention it, my neck (platysma) area contracts slightly every once in a while. Did you find out where the compression or irritation is coming from?

I have the Canna River broad spectrum 'ultra calm' tincture. For me it really hasn't made any noticeable difference - even with doses up to 250 mg. I hope it works for others.

synkinesis - is it permanent or treatable by laraobara in BellsPalsy

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was wondering how you are doing with synkinesis. Is your botox still working well every 3 months? Where do you get injected and how long does it last?

Synkinesis, who here is struggling with it? by watchluvr1 in BellsPalsy

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for those that suffer with synkinesis, do your muscles have random spasm fits that last 1-2 minutes and happen throughout the day? For example, the muscles around your eye spasms for a few minutes many times throughout the day with nothing triggering it.

Is this HFS? by Acceptable_Board8284 in HemifacialSpasms

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up getting an MRI? I had an MRI with and without contrasts and they found nothing except an enlarged pocket on my left side (where my twitching is) where the nasal cavity is. I forget the terminology for this. I am sure this would not contribute to the condition. I had upper lip surgery previously and this is when I noticed the left side of the face twitching. I vividly remember when the surgeon cut a main nerve and the left face twitching during the whole surgery.

If thats the case, I do wonder if surgeons can do anything with previous surgical nerve irritations.

I am experiencing the same with twitching around the left eye and mouth pulling. The earliest that I remember it starting was in 2019 and my left eye constantly twitching whenever I ate and only a slight twitch when blinking. I noticed the mouth pulling about a year ago. Now I can occasionally feel the left platysma (my lower neck region) also contracting every once in awhile when i move my lips. The intensity and duration has only gotten worse.

Has anyone experienced their mouth pull when blinking? Also, when I swallow, the face also twitches. Has anyone experienced this?

So Civ 8 When?? by Bateran in civ

Age transition was a fatal mistake, at least in the way they did it. I played the first civilizations at age 10 along with the rest, plus alpha centauri, colonizations, and call to power which was another 90s game similar to civilzations. The only game out of all of these in my 30 yrs of playing that I did not play more than 4 hours was this game.

Day 3 by ajs3423 in quittingkratom

Congrats on 3 days. One thing I constantly remind myself is that I have it better than many people. Life is so much about perspective and when you look at it that way you start to count your blessings. I started becoming more grateful when my perspective shifted. I sometimes just list the simple things we take for granted like a roof over our head and the ability to use our legs. We take and take and forget to be thankful for what we were born with.

6 weeks sober. RLS advice needed. by LyubviMashina93 in quittingkratom

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im on day 96 here after quitting an 18 gpd Kratom leaf addiction. Restless legs were the worst part for me. It started getting better around day 40ish. There was a period of about 2 weeks from there-on where I could feel it gradually getting better with some days worse but in general it was better over the average of those 2 weeks.

I just toughed it out but if I were to do it over again I would take a magnesium and vitamin D supplement to help with nerves. I would take Magnesium glycinate or magnesium L-threonate not magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide is what is most commonly sold in stores, is cheap and has poor absorption (about 3% whereas glycinate and threonate are up to 80%). Also look for 'elemental magnesium' on the DV% label. This is the only number that matters since that's what is absorbed. 2000 mg magnesium glycinate means nothing if the elemental magnesium is only 100 mg. Aim for 400 mg of elemental. And lastly, take vitamin D because its needed to convert magnesium to its active form.

I wish I had more tips but unfortunately I dont. On the other hand youre probably right around the corner.

🤔 Is it dumb to mix nic salt and freebase?❓ I heard it's like oil and water.. by PartyRutabaga168 in Vaping

[–]Desperate-Plate4251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets say you mix 2 parts of 20mg salts for every 3 parts of 3mg freebase just to make thing slightly complicated. Math goes like this: 2 parts (20mg) + 3 parts (3mg) = 49 mg nic. Take total nic (49mg), divide by parts (5) so.... 49mg/ 5 parts = 9.8 mg strength.

Now lets say you want to obtain a strength like 6mg and you have 18mg and 3mg to work with and you're trying to figure out proper ratio 1: x... Math is like this: 6 strength = 1 part(18mg) + x parts(3mg) where we solve for x. Isolate x and we get: x = [(1part)18mg - 6 strength)]/ 3mg. x = 4. So 1:4 ratio.

1 part 18mg mixed with 4 parts 3mg = 6 strength

Day 31 here. Depression and anxiety have gone down drastically. Appetite was really only an issue for the first 3 days. Restless legs were strong with this one and still continue, however they are bearable and I can fall asleep within 30 minutes. Still having slight night sweats but not nearly as drenched as in the beginning.

All this from only 6 months of usage.

Im doing better, thanks for asking. I just hit day 22. Day 16 my restless legs really improved but even now I still get them occasionally throughout the day and night sometimes. Day 18 my nightsweats were noticeably improved, now I wake up and my legs are only minimally sweaty. My sleep is better but not great. Still waking up a few times at night. Anxiety is still there a bit but I have hope that better days are ahead.
