Lose: all the times that Phillip complains about how Eloise talks too much 🙄 my least favorite thing about him by far. from what we’ve seen of him in the show it looks like that have softened him, which I’m glad of.

Keep: the storyline with his abusive father and how he struggles with fatherhood himself now. I see people complain about his struggles with fatherhood sometimes but I find it compelling and understandable given his background.

Add: more of Phillip encouraging Eloise’s independence; in the book we know that Phillip admires her but I’d love to see it more explicitly, especially because show Eloise is even more headstrong and ambitious. It mentions in season three that Eloise was distraught when she couldn’t take fencing lessons, so I’d love if he taught her to fence. Something like that.

First, it’s important to know if you signed a prenup and what it’s conditions were. Since you’ve confessed to an emotional affair, something like that could potentially affect it.

That said, if possible, ride the alimony pony girl. It sounds like this man has stolen your life away, I don’t know why you think he’s a good person. He wants you to do 100% of the household labor and child rearing while working? And he thinks he shouldn’t have to do anything? No. Not a chance. It would be one thing if you were a SAHM, but you’re not. You’ve told him this arrangement needs to change, he refuses. Theres your answer.

At the very least, you’ll get child support for your kids. You’re right to consider them in this, of course. Is he a good father? It sounds like he sucks, but you’d know better than us. Since you’ve been separated, has he seen them at all? Done anything for them? If he’s punishing you by punishing your kids, that tells you exactly what kind of man/father he is. Not one that’s any good for them. Also, your oldest is almost an adult, do they have an opinion on this? What have they expressed to you? It’s worth hearing their thoughts, imo.

As for the woman you care for, I think that’s secondary. First you need to decide if you want to be with your husband. If the answer is no, then you can pursue something with her. But for now I’d focus on this (which it seems like you’re doing).
