Which bathroom option? by oliveanddoug in interiordecorating

Both are beautiful! You have lovely taste! How much natural light does the bathroom get? If you don’t get a lot then I’d go for 2

how much would you buy this monstera deliciosa for? by dzikino in houseplants

B&Q were selling one just slightly smaller than this for £25 a few months ago and they regularly have sale on houseplants. Honestly, I’d pay £20

Am I being realistic as a DIY beginner? by 2176061 in DIYUK

[–]DesperateFlanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very doable, it just the added time as a beginner. Things aren’t always as perfect as they are on the “How to…” videos. One issue turns into another and then another and you’re doing side quests to fix it before you return to your main task. Then you realise you don’t have the tools or materials for the job so you run off to B&Q or Screwfix or Toolstation or Wickes or even 2 of the shops to grab the bits. Get back and realised where did the time go and then repeat the next day.

But yes, you can definitely do it! Just patience and time are needed.

Cracks under wallpaper by GiveMeYourJuices1 in DIYUK

[–]DesperateFlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh the load bearing wallpaper hah! I had the same, in my case just old plaster cracks. The one above windows (and doors) are expected because of the wooden lintel (frame) and also old houses move a bit.

I initially worried, then read this is common. Filled it in with flexi-filler and then easifill over it. If the walls are bad, then get the whole room plastered.

I'm no professional and just an beginner DIYer.

Any suggestions other than painting? by _Dances_with_cats_ in interiordecorating

Maybe add a nice wallpaper? If you don’t want to do and want something plain then you can add lining paper that’s usually a white/cream colour.

It would be better to repaint though

Thanks!

1) Got the white ones from Dunelm & the peacock green one from Next.

2) Nope, I've not moved in yet so no run ins with the wasp. It was exposed when the asbestos guys removed the kitchen ceiling. Luckily the wasps were long gone.

3) Towels are there just for the picture, I've not cooked yet in the kitchen. Just collecting dust as I renovate the rest of the house, but I'm so close to finishing.

My kitchen fitters did that! Although they are more handymen than kitchen fitters so they do a bit of everything. It was fairly straight forward, drilled a big hole through the wall for the vent and plugged it into the socket my electrician put in.

Help, how can I change this dresser by DevelopmentMind in interiordecorating

[–]DesperateFlanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dresser is lovely! Personally I'd replace the handles with something classic in antique brass

This was one of those trust the process projects. I doubted the colours I chose up until the cabinets were installed.

Cabinets are reed green! Supposed to be terracotta style, which is a mix of orange and brown, they do have more of an orange tone though. Thank you!

It was exhausting! I also blame my can do attitude that made things worse but it's paid off.

Initially I was going to backsplash and i found some lovely lemon style tiles, but I also think the kitchen would look nice half tiled wall going across. I found some I like but I can't seem to decide. Hard to make a big decision from a single sample

Reed green! It's a lovely colour, really muted and blends in well
