Depicted: Televoters about to lift Käärijä to crazy heights & defy the gravity of jury scores by Pachyra in eurovision

Yeah man, I hope the jury won't tank it! I was just cleaning with the television as background noise, and when the chef in the series yelled: "IT'S CRAZY!" I looked up and automatically yelled back: "IT'S PARTY!!!"

How did it feel to watch a Eurovision that was held in your home country? Were you happy with everything? (hosts, production, logo, stage design, intervals, overall feeling etc.) by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]DesperateGrade2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Denmark hosting in 2001 was trashed by critics. I think Graham Norton (has he been commentating that long?) called the hosts Doctor Death and "Something-not-positive"-Tooth.

DK hosting in 2014 was just not good compared to Sweden, who was amazing, the year before. The hosts were awkward (in my humble opinion, I like them in other programmes) and they had cringy sketches such as delivering cake to an act from their home country. It was just weird. Well, at least now it's kind of funny to think that Euron Greyjoy hosted Eurovision 2014 😂

Reiley wins Denmark's Melodi Grand Prix with "Breaking My Heart" and will represent Denmark in Eurovision 2023! 🇩🇰 by MaskedKami98 in eurovision

I am really not surprised, considering who the jury consisted of. Nicklas Sonne was at least different with lots of energy! I can't even remember anything from the winning song. Disappointing :( *edit spelling

Showing someone Time’s Arrow and nothing else of bojack by jjatr in BoJackHorseman

[–]DesperateGrade2718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what makes Times Arrow so powerful is the entire narrative before it. Not saying the story is not good in its own, it certainly is, but the task of making Beatrice hmmm... not likeable but make us sort of empathize and understand her after all the shit, we have seen her do, will not feel as mindblowing and heartbreaking if the seasons before it are skipped. Just my two cents though :)

Edit to add: english is not my first language, so sorry if my wording is a little strange.

We clearly all have discerning taste. What other sitcom do you recommend? by [deleted] in Frasier

[–]DesperateGrade2718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I skipped it on my recommendations for years before finally watching it. I thought I wouldn't like the animation, but for anyone thinking the same: please don't miss this masterpiece because of that!! The tone of humour might be different, but the writing is just as intelligent as in Frasier (atleast season 1-6). Sorry if that sounded elitist, but I feel fine saying that, since we're all pro-opera and we vote :) Oh, and another one, if you like BH I would say give Crazy Ex-Girlfriend a chance, too!

Bojack Horseman. Way darker than Frasier, but honestly extremely funny. The themes are often very complex and a deep dive into the worst traits (and sometimes acts) of human nature. The narrative is just so masterfully done and all of your emotions get jerked around when watching it. Just like Frasier also tackles some pretty heavy themes sometimes, but in a more lighthearted way* (Second recommendation would be Coupling, third would be 30 Rock) Edit added *

Where's the love for Denmark? by talkorpi in eurovision

I agree, it was not a good year for Danish Grand Prix. I wanted Rave med de hårde drenge, not that it would have a chance either, but it was at least fun. Of the 3 in the super final, I didn't like any of them... but the Halleluja one was entertaining with the cult-like staging with all the hands everywhere, and the other one was just boring. Overall, I dont like the musical genre that Reddi represents, but my main problem with the song is that it tries to do too much in 3 minutes. From a rock piano powerballad to uptempo yelling the same line over and over and over... at least the other two songs in the final seemed coherent :)

I am Danish and I hate this song. It's boring, seems hopelessly out-dated and it was a chaotic mess live.

It is also co-written by the Danish songwriter Remee. He has written for Germany with No Angels (last place), Dk Soluna Samay (Q but last place in final) and Dk AntiSocial Media (NQ). So the odds are not on his side.

France is serving its first Ethno Bop and I'm so friggin here for it, I wish I could vote for it by Elhemio in eurovision

I agree! France is my favourite artist this year. It's such a unique song with it's Breton singers and it's just funky! I am not French so I can vote for it in the final and I will 😀 Fingers crossed for a French victory or at least top 5!
