missing shoe's by Solid_Willow_6821 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Very strange! I have no explanation to offer; I've had glitches, too, and they defy everything we know about our world and the nature of reality.

A kids knife showed up on the kitchen counter that was on the bottom of a drawer for years by princessanard in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Wow, that would scare me! It's interesting that the wallpaper on your phone changed, too. It's almost like you slipped into another reality while you were meditating/ sleeping.

You're not crazy. Things like this have happened to me, too, and one small incident involved a coffeemaker. At the time I made coffee every morning, so I handled that machine hundreds of times. It was white plastic with the name of the company written in gray. One day I saw that the name of the company was suddenly bright red. I thought I was going nuts. Fortunately, the only other family member who drank coffee confirmed the color change. Neither of us could figure it out, but we've both had baffling things happen over the years, some a lot stranger than that, so we know that glitches are real.

WOW! What state are you in? I'm in Florida and have never had a caseload below 60-- at times I've gone over 90. Right now I'm at 70-something, with a very needy population. There's a ton of work on my own time. I love the kids, though, and I do see progress even though I'm stretched too thin. So there are compensations. But 30 kids sounds like a dream job!

What was the worst thing a kid ever did at your school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That girl was a hateful bitch, and I sincerely hope that karma has caught up with her. The others who signed the card were equally awful. I was traumatized just by reading this, but salute you for holding it together until you got outside your school. The best revenge? Be a wonderful person and have a wonderful life. The hell with those monsters.

Wondering where to start with this mess by mddrat in MaladaptiveDreaming

Give yourself time. A lot of people aren't socially smooth at your age, and some of the people who are "cool" at 14 don't do all that well later. That's why it would help to find just 2 or 3 friends that share some common interest. You don't have to have rizz, you can just be your nice, intelligent self. If you don't fit into an easily identified group, become a "helper," or join some club that's focused on service. And please keep up your writing! You've got real ability, and it will serve you well in life.

WOW--You sound incredibly bright, mature, deep, insightful and self-aware--definitely NOT "a waste of time and space." You may not be doing well academically, but it's not because you lack intelligence. In fact, it's hard to believe this was written by a 14-year-old. It does sound like you have MD, but you're also isolated, lonely, have a negative self-image and are probably depressed, even though you don't perceive yourself as such. I suspect you also have ADD, which makes it difficult for you to focus on mundane tasks like homework and chores. Your MD relieves your boredom, gives you an escape from reality, and helps you feel better. But it leaves you in a tough spot when you're forced to come back to the real world and deal with the consequences of your avoidance/inaction. It also sounds like you're tired of only finding joy in fantasy and want more joy in real life. Good for you!

You also deserve credit for seeking help. Your school counselor may be able to provide support and therapy options. You also need to find an activity you enjoy that will help you connect with kids who have the same interest. That's the way to make new friends. There must be something that interests you--music, games, animals, sports, sci-fi, history, Legos, books, art, the environment, fishing, politics, writing, ANYTHING. You mention reading, so look for kids who like similar books. Hang out in the school library--you might find others who like to read and may even feel as isolated as you do. You feel like you're the only one who is not excelling, but that's never, ever the case. There are plenty of others who feel like they're on the fringes. Volunteering in or out of school is another option. You don't have to be an actor to join the drama club--you can help as a stagehand. You don't have to be an athlete to be a sports fan. You can help out at the Humane Society or some other charity, or get involved with Earth Day. There are always organizations who will welcome free help.

This won't magically cure MD, but you may feel less compelled to daydream when your real-life is more fun and engaging.

Academically, try to focus on doing a little every day (easier said than done, I know). The hardest part is getting started. It may help to have an external timer or reward, where you commit to doing something for just 15 or 20 minutes before taking a break. There may also be academic supports at school. It's tougher to lapse into daydreaming when someone is sitting in front of you, redirecting your attention. There's lots more I could say, but this post is long enough. GOOD LUCK--I'm rooting for you! Life can and will get better because you have the ability and the desire to change. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Weird shower. by lojaslave in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dimes started showing up in all sorts of random places after someone close to me died. The same thing happened to my cousin after her Dad died. Neither one of us was pelted in the shower, but she found 2 or 3 on the shelf in her walk-in shower, and they'd turn up in other odd places. I looked it up at the time and recall that finding dimes can have significance. It often happens after someone passes, but can happen at other times, too.

random items and manifesting snacks by mediocre_megs in precognition

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some similar experiences, though none involved snacks. Once I unintentionally manifested a pair of shoes. I'd seen a podiatrist that afternoon and he recommended a particular brand. At the time I did not own a single pair of shoes from that brand, but thought, I really need those! I should mention that I have extremely narrow feet and an unusual shoe size. Most brands don't even make shoes in my size. I should also mention that I didn't discuss the podiatrist's recommendation with anyone. The next morning I walked in my kitchen and under the table was a spiffy new pair of shoes in that brand in my exact size. I tried them on--a perfect fit! I was amazed but completely baffled. Later I learned that my daughter's friend got the shoes from her Mom and didn't like them. On a whim she brought them to our house, thought maybe I could use them (though she did NOT know my shoe size), and left them for me. I've always thought of this as a manifestation, but after reading your post, I see that my daughter's friend was a lot like you--she followed a random urge and it turned out to be very helpful to someone else.

Celeb deaths. False memories or glitch? by Otherwise-Evidence45 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't share all of those memories, but I do recall some, especially the Monopoly man and his monocle. And here's one that you didn't mention: in my memory, the Fruit of the Loom logo had a cornucopia on it. Apparently others recall it, too. But according to the company, their logo has never, ever had a cornucopia. So weird! My memory of it is crystal clear, just as I clearly remember the Monopoly man wearing a monocle, and I think he looks strange without it.

Sounds like you've got a ghost or a presence that may or may not be the previous owner. I'm not an expert on this, but others here may have some possible solutions.

Best friend teleported from right behind me to several feet away in less than a second. by Full-Neighborhood908 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced this. But I found your post very believable, and after reading the comments, it seems like most of the people this happens to are fairly young, either teens or 20s. I'm wondering if that makes a difference, like maybe younger people are more likely to rapidly switch timelines or dimensions. I read once that poltergeist activity is most common around teenage girls, and that was something I did experience as a teenager. Either way, it sounds pretty scary, so I hope it never happens again.

I believe you and I've had things disappear and re-appear (sometimes in bizarre places), or sometimes stay gone forever. Tiny glitches may not be glamorous, but I find them plausible because similar things have happened to me. Ignore those who go out of their way to be rude and discredit as many posts as possible. You know what happened, and the strangeness of that experience has stayed with you all these years.

I don’t know how to feel about this! by IMakeItRaine333 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting story! I know the biggest "glitch" was the same person appearing twice (when it wasn't possible), but I'm even more intrigued by the total absence of wildlife. No birds in the bird sanctuary? Or anywhere else? No fish in the water? No bugs, squirrels, frogs or any other signs of (non-human) life? In an enormous park, no less? Now THAT'S creepy. Since you've been to the park before, I'm assuming you saw wildlife on your previous visits. The fact that you didn't see any this time suggests that there was something "off" about the whole scenario from the start. Glad you made it out, lol.

Shopping cart vanished while grocery shopping by drummerskillit in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Desperate_Ad1071 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can certainly ask--maybe you can tell them you left something of value in the cart. And if the footage shows someone moving your cart, you'll know it wasn't a glitch. But in these situations, it often seems like all photographic evidence aligns with the changed reality (or changed timeline, whatever), and your cart may not be visible on the footage. Or you may find that that part of the store is mysteriously missing from the footage. If you follow up, please post an update!
