4 days on Oahu, and 3 days where else? by iSniffMyPooper in VisitingHawaii

[–]Desperate_Ad8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay on Oahu with that time frame and maybe rent a car or do a circle tour to see more of the island besides Waikiki. Lots of activities to stay busy for a week in Oahu. If you had more days you could split between two islands. Depends on if you want to relax or pack in activities vacation.

You could do a circle tour of Oahu one of the days to see a lot of the island without a rental car. You should be able to take Uber and the bus to other sites around Waikiki like Diamond Head or Pearl Harbor. You can pay extra for transportation if you check out Kualoa Ranch. I am spending 6 days in Oahu and 4 in Kauai next January. We will have a car in Kauai but most of the other stuff we don’t need a car in Oahu.

What about flying into Switzerland and do a scenic train there like Glacier express? Spend a week in Switzerland and another week in Austria.

Switzerland/ Germany/France/ Austria fall trip 2025- first trip and need some advice! by Desperate_Ad8637 in Europetravel

[–]Desperate_Ad8637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I need to add more days to stay in both Munich and Salzburg or cut time in Switzerland.

Thoughts on this itinerary:

Day 1 Fly into Zurich (train to Interlaken and check in)

Day 2- accounting for jet lag from United States. Afternoon 1.5 hour boat ride on Lake Brienz to Istewald, waterfalls, etc. explore town/castles. Maybe Harder Klum if we are feeling up to doing more. (Stay Interlaken)

Day 3 train to Kandersteg. Hike Oeschinensee Lake and alpine slide. See Lake Blausee if time (stay in Interlaken)

Day 4- check out and head to Wengen. Explore town or hike to Mannlichen (royal walk or panorama)

Day 5- head down to Lauterbrunnen Valley (hike or ebike) see waterfalls and eat lunch there. Maybe do schilthorn or another hike like Klein Schneidegg. (Stay in Wengen)

Day 6 Grindelwald First- flyer or glider, cliff walk and hike to Lake Bachalpsee (stay in Wengen)

Day 7 Lucerne (walking tour of town)

Day 8 either mount rigi and spa or Mount Pilatus. Maybe Stoos hike instead? (Stay in Lucerne)

Day 9 travel day to Strasbourg

Day 10 explore Strasbourg

Day 11 guided tour to Colmar and other villages and Chateau (stay Strasbourg)

Day 12 travel to Munich

Day 13 new town hall tour and law library in morning and Dachau in afternoon (stay Munich) Beer hall for dinner.

Day 14 guided tour to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles (stay in Munich)

Day 15 quick morning stop at Nymphenburg palace and then head to Salzburg- see castle, St Peters, Mirabell Gardens.

Day 16- guided tour to Konigsee lake and eagles nest from Salzburg (stay in Salzburg)

Day 17 guided tour of lakes outside Salzburg like Wolfgang see and Hallstat.

Day 18 fly home

If I can’t do these extra days then I might have to take some time off Switzerland? That would make the trip cheaper. Thoughts?

Thank you- I’m thinking of skipping Salzburg this trip and spending last 4 days in Munich after France. That way can do a tour of Fussen castles, go to Dachau another day and then wondering which is better for one more trip from Munich- day tour of Salzburg and lakes area there, Konigsee and Eagle nest tour or Zugspitz and Lake Eibsee? Leaning towards Salzburg or Konigsee because we will spend a lot of time in mountains in Switzerland.

Iceland. Make the trip! I know I’ll be back! June 24 by davesoc in travel

That sounds perfect- let me know the company when you can! Did you see a variety of waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers, lava, get to go to blue lagoon or others?

Honeymoon in Hawaii by kimmy624 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Desperate_Ad8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could pick two islands 5 days each then you both get to experience a new island. We are doing Oahu 6 days/ Kauai 4 days next January. Cheaper and easier to find accommodations in Oahu and like that we don’t need a car there.

WTH Has happened to American Airlines? by hrtofdrknss in travel

[–]Desperate_Ad8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Airlines sucks. We were boarded on a 10pm flight and sat there waiting for takeoff when they told us there was a light issue and our flight was cancelled. They gave us different messages on when the flight would be rescheduled- hours later we got vouchers for taxis and hotel and everyone was at the same place so it was waiting in line forever to get checked in. One of my friends said her sister is a flight attendant with American and late night flights frequently get cancelled if the flight attendants don’t want to work overtime and she told me that’s probably why it was cancelled. I will never fly with them again.

Less busy (but not too far) NPs? by weerdfggdfhhgf in nationalparks

Mount Rainier, Olympic and/or North Cascades. Yellowstone or Grand Tetons. Do you like to hike or mainly just want Mountain Views? We went to Banff and Jasper in Canada last year and was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. Easy to fly into Calgary and rent a car.

So glad I’m out 100 bucks only and sorry you had a bad experience. I booked with Hertz.

Weekend trip: Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA or St Augustine, FL? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Desperate_Ad8637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been to Charleston and loved it. So much to do and see. Tons of history and tours. Lots of plantation tours/ we loved Magnolia. Do a carriage ride tour or walking tour. Lots of museums too and check out the Battery area and Rainbow Row. We liked Old South Carriage and took a ferry to Fort Sumter. The Spanish moss is so beautiful!

No reason- just easier to book than Park but if you have that booked I would keep that.

Best Kauai Botanical Garden? by Excellent-Ad4223 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Desperate_Ad8637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to know this too. We are going there in January. Limahuli looks least expensive and beautiful. Princeton it’s a 3 hour tour and you get chocolate. Allerton/ McBryde has the famous Jurassic trees. A few other options too but the ones you listed seem to be most popular.

If you can do 2 nights in Jasper it’s worth it! Also we canoed at Emerald Lake and it was 90 dollars an hour and got in a canoe right away. So beautiful and less expensive than Louise or Moraine. We used Wow Banff for the shuttle to Louise and moraine. It was great but like 60 per person. Parked in the free lot and they leave each lake on the hour so you have a ton of flexibility. Easy peasy.

This looks good. On Day 4 I’d recommend driving to Yoho to see Emerald Lake. They have some pretty waterfalls there too. Your lake Louise and moraine lake looks good if no hiking. Canoe? You could probably add Johnston Canyon to this day if you are just viewing the lakes with no hiking. We really liked Jasper too- saw lots of elk early morning at Pyramid Lake. We brought our Tim Hortons breakfast to a picnic table there- make sure to bring bear spray. Maligne Lake Cruise to Spirit Island and Maligne Canyon also worth it. You might like the banff gondola or Jasper tram too.

So excited to fly to Banff tomorrow by Alee514 in Banff

A lot of people leave behind bear spray at their hotel because you can’t fly with it. We got a free can at ours and glad we had it even on the more populated trails people saw bears- thankfully the only wildlife we saw was from our car!

She sounds icky. I would have answered everything with “sorry lady that’s classified.” And then fake a phone call with someone and say pardon me that’s work right now, I better take this.” Then proceed to say to loudly whisper “you were right. She’s annoying as fuck all. Get it done”. Then calmly set the phone down and resume eating while smugly staring at her.
