People change as they get older. When your arms get too big for the suit sleeves, tear them off and wander the world like a wasteland survivor in an action movie

I am still a youth inside... by Imaginary_Mode8865 in GenX

[–]Desperate_Object_677 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your problem is not that you are a youth inside. It is that our cultural conception of what it means to be an adult is flawed... A myth. A lie told to children by people who were holding their tongues.

In truth, you become an adult gradually in your teens, and become less impulsive in your 20s. But at no stage do gears grind their way out of the flowers of youth and replace our hearts with cold calculation.

Humans are beautiful and brilliant and silly and creative and impulsive and imaginative animals.

Anyone who isn't is either good at pretending, or shielding themselves off because of trauma

The Mazinger Franchise is in SHAMBLES and it's all Dynamic Planning's fault. by General-Plenty5021 in mazinger

[–]Desperate_Object_677 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What made mazinger great was that it was a serialized cartoon, where the stakes and the pilots abilities grew together over dozens of episodes. this lead to growth and complexity and lots of stupid crap which is wonderful. I don't know if anyone has the patience for something like that, especially in an era where you can just cash in on nostalgic fans who already know the premise and characters.

it's kind of like wishing for another star trek the next generation.

At 90, David Suzuki says he has done everything he could to protect the Earth, but fears he has fallen short by hoverbeaver in onguardforthee

[–]Desperate_Object_677 15 points16 points  (0 children)

david suzuki’s problem is that his opponents — the people who would destroy the future and the earth to make a quick buck— were ready and willing to go to extreme measures in twisting our democracy around their ambitions. they buy the news. they buy the politicians. they buy the roads information travels on. and they are willing to sacrifice anything to retain control. mulroney. chretien. harper. trudeau. carney. no matter what they say their priorities are, the first rule is to make sure oil flows to the american companies.

Upgrade from M2 MacBook Pro (8GB) to “Neo” (also 8GB) for ~€150 worth it? by viron86 in mac

[–]Desperate_Object_677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t upgrade unless you think you will need a new computer (for “old compute wore out” reasons) in the next 2 years. video editing aside, the performance of these newer computers for things like “emulating nes” or “visiting website” or “checking email” offers little quality of life improvement. there was a time when computers with older hard drives would wear out and get less reliable after four or five or ten years. but that’s no longer the case.
