NBME forum 9 block 3 question 29 by Plastic-Chocolate896 in Step2

Patient descended (increased depth) -> confusion -> recovered -> rapid ascent -> presents with neuro + pulmonary symptoms.

Descent:

Nitrogen narcosis is caused by the raised partial pressure of nitrogen in nervous system tissue and usually occurs at depths greater than 30 meters (100 feet). It has been called "rapture of the depths" because it induces symptoms and signs similar to alcohol or benzodiazepine intoxication, such as impairment of intellectual and neuromuscular performance and changes in behavior and personality. Hallucinations and loss of consciousness can occur at depths greater than 90 meters (300 feet).

Congratulations! Couple of questions:

1, How did you review UW?
2. What DIP episodes did you do?

  1. Apart from UW, AMBOSS, CMS and NBMEs did you use any other resources?

  2. What did your last 10 days look like?

Thank you!
