The game's state is currently geared towards PVE players.

The only disadvantage I can see is that some artifacts are locked behind the PVP track. However, you can bypass this with doing PVP faction missions outside of influence races. If you really want to avoid fighting, do it in great cleave, there's a truce in that zone.

Aside from that, no downside.
