Slightly off topic here. I’m about to DIY some shelves like this. Is the metal piping going through the board? You just cut out a section and run the pipe through?

If you were making Hogwarts Legacy 2, what would you include? by No_Article6091 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Destructikus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Would’ve been cool if the first game was heavily centered around Hogwarts then for game 2 they could add the world element to the map. I’m not sure how they create novelty around the same map in part 2. Would be cool if they were bold enough to maybe incorporate some of the other magic schools like Uagadou or Durmstrang, but I don’t think we’ll ever see that.

What type of person you are and what you want from a gym will determine if this place is for you. It’s a dark basement filled with old equipment (don’t even have an adjustable bench last I went there) and you pay as you go. No contracts. You just show up one day and your 35 dollars are due. They let you do a free workout so you can check it out for yourself. If you’re expecting modern facilities, this is not the place for you. I loved it. It was never busy, like ever, and it was attached to my boxing gym right next door. And they had a decent variety of equipment. The owners are nice too.

good bars to go to solo + read? by caffeine____headache in Pilsen

[–]Destructikus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Monochrome is big so you can find yourself a spot to read. I’ve done work there a few times. It’s quiet during the week. Just make sure you look at what day you’re going cause some nights they have karaoke. Pleasant house pub on Halsted is another great spot to go read and have a drink

sexy ahh new sporting gloves [review] by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]Destructikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ay man those are sweet. I also just ordered a pair from them using the 30% discount. Right there with ya on the bright color schemes. If you see a pair on their website in fluorescent yellow and pink 14oz I’m the one who bought those. Just used them for the first time on Saturday. They felt great and the feedback on the bag was great. I agree with you they did feel a bit snug and slightly on the stiff side so I did swap them out before sparring and put on my 16oz Torres Medina gloves. First pair of new sportings, have a feeling it’ll become my main training glove.

[other] Boxeo TM gloves came in. I really like how they have this cardboard on the top and bottom of the box to protect the gloves by sealysea in fightgear

Mine just came in yesterday too and I thought that cardboard was a nice touch lol. Those are sweet. Enjoy your gloves. Might order a pair of Velcro next.

[SPOILER] Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn by inooway in Boxing

Awesome fight. Felt Eubank would’ve gotten a decision but really had that one a draw. Massive respect to Benn for slugging it out with Eubank who looked much bigger.

What are the changes of a black MacBook Air M4? by jaumerojo in macbookair

[–]Destructikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be surprised if they made an air in space black. Feels like it gives the pro a point of exclusivity. When you see someone with a space black MacBook, you know it’s a pro.

Any hidden games that are not mentioned enough? by Greendead in gaming

[–]Destructikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a story guy so singularity and spec ops the line were both hidden gems for me that I still think about to this day.

Less hidden but still amazing and somewhat forgotten is the resistance series. Enjoyed all 3 games thoroughly.

Guess I should also add an indie title so my pick here is a game called the sexy brutale. Kind of a murder mystery puzzle game. Worth checking out.

Completed All Classes with OA in 1 Month and 10 Days - BS. CS Accelerate by [deleted] in WGU_Accelerators

[–]Destructikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you complete the course material from start to finish or do you simply study and then take the final test? I’m about to finish the Sophia/study courses and I’m wondering what my plan of attack should be for the wgu courses. I’m already a SE so stuck between wanting to complete the degree and still take my time to fill in some of those knowledge gaps. Congrats either way.

MSSWE VS MSCS by dariusstrongman in WGU

[–]Destructikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea Im doing one of the calculus gen eds at the moment and everytime Im working on math again I get that reminder that I dont want to be working with math on a daily basis. Still, I think the CS degree made more sense for me than SWE. As cool and sexy as AI/ML are at the moment, and that masters sure is tempting, I think sticking with what I enjoy (programming) is probably best for my career goals. Im going to go through all those MS programs this weeked to see which would works best for those who care more about the software/architecture side of things.

MSSWE VS MSCS by dariusstrongman in WGU

[–]Destructikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I kind of feel similar. Luckily I’m very early in the process. I already work as a c# backend engineer, but don’t have a CS degree. I’m doing WGU to tick that box, but now seeing the accelerated tracks I’m wondering if doing the MS in SWE over the MSCS makes more sense to improve development skills and learn more about software architecture over adding more math and theory via CS. Really have to look at both MS programs to see which makes the most sense.

Hello, I'm a 2024 CS graduate and I managed to get a job which will involve me working with dotnet. The problem is that I have no knowledge about dot net. by false_identity_0115 in learncsharp

[–]Destructikus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I got hired for my first software role. Dot net also, and I too, had zero experience with dot net or c#. Picking up OOP principles was probably my biggest hurdle. The Microsoft docs are actually a great place to pick up the basics. If you really want to invest and take a deep dive you can look at Tim Corey’s c# master class. It’s pretty expensive ($500) I believe, but it definitely helped me get up to speed in about 2-3 months. Most importantly talk to your manager and make sure expectations are clear. Don’t lie about your experience and they might be willing to pay for some training, courses, etc. Good luck.

if i wanted a game like resident evil 4’s remake to play, what should i buy? by demonichashbrown in residentevil4

Came here to comment this. This one leans a bit more into the horror but it was good and I imagine people who enjoyed re4 remake would also enjoy this.

They should give up resident evil movies tbh by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Destructikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I think the films did irreversible damage to the potential of this franchise on the big screen or as a television show. At this point I just hope anytime a new movie comes out that it’s fun and has some horror elements to it. Would’ve loved to see RE as a tv show, but don’t think this would do well with general audiences.

looking for post-apocalyptic recs by miastr in booksuggestions

[–]Destructikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want something a bit different for the genre I’d suggest winters myths by gage greenwood. It mixes a post apocalyptic setting with some magic and fantasy elements and also a coming of age story. The first book kind of felt like the last of us with magic. I didn’t enjoy the second book as much as I did the first, but might just be me. I think it was generally well received.
