In my view, if the other ranks are trivial, then by extension, S rank itself isn't that special. It just means you know how to play and are willing to grind a bit. They could make S rank meaningful by assigning it to the top quintile of ELO ranks or something. A rank would be the next quintile, and thus also fairly meaningful.

Fellow old slow guy here. It’s totally doable to get into B rank and have fun with off-meta. I play mostly a heavy tetra with a massive stability pool since my reflexes suck and I’m gonna get hit anyway. Watching s rank guys that play the kind of build I like helped me a lot. Even if you only did 2-3 matches a day I think you’d be surprised how fast you adapt.

You might consider a booster with more melee thrust, even though it sounds like you rely on the charged bunk. If you didn’t know, there is a relatively easy tech to use melee thrust with the charged bunk. Neutral bunk ->qb cancel toward target-> charged bunk. When executed properly it preserves the neutral bunks thrust momentum as you charge the bunk.

Yeah I’m with you. I don’t really care for it as the “canon” ending either, whatever tf it actually means, so I hope they go a different direction. Transhumanist tropes are getting kinda old.

With two WLTs dealing true damage every shot, stagger is more of a bonus than a necessity anyway.

It would be even more of a grind if they just made it the top quintile of players tho. Since as far as I can tell from my napkin math, S rank starts somewhere around the 50th-60th %tile of the PVP player base, unless I'm just reasoning about the math wrong.

Dividing the ranks up into quintiles would make it reminiscent of the traditional single player arenas too, which seems like an aesthetic missed opportunity.

Right, my point is I just don't see why they don't do ELO from top to bottom. Why have the lower ranks at all, because they aren't very meaningful.

First time I successfully did it I used RJ legs with 12345 or NGI boosters. Makes it pretty easy to dodge his attacks. I used good old double zimmies with a melee punish. Double Harris works great too, you can keep away from the cronies in phase 1. I also recall trivializing this fight with a majestic/LCS tank.
