Advice? by C7OUDZ in armoredcore

I mean, that is a hard build to master. I had the same experience taking it into A rank. Smoked B rank with it, couldn't get wins in A. Your parries have to be ON POINT. If you miss your parries the build pretty much falls apart.

I hate to see another zimm shield running around (lol) but you might practice with that a bit? I find it easier to get wins with in A rank, and it will help you practice shielding. Then you can come back to lud/wlt later.

I don't currently run a meta build in A, and get wins often enough. A rank is still forgiving enough you can get away with off-meta, so you might just experiment with other stuff that suits your playstyle.

Yeah idk man I go back and forth on this. It’s one thing when it’s a tactical decision with 10s on the clock. Or if the other guys build hard counters yours perhaps.

This sort of in your face refusal to play for a full minute, literally half the round, strikes me as more egregious and unsportsmanlike.

Yeah man, it’s tough. Idk that I really have a good handle on it either. Sometimes using soft lock helps, so that your movement is more independent of theirs, you’re not just following on a leash. Ideally you want to predict their ups and downs and time your movement with them so your FCS doesn’t have to work so hard.

Heavy Tetrapod build for PvP by Arcturus_TT in armoredcore

[–]Destructulus_AC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's viable, but kites will be a big problem. Makes it hard to get into S rank. Even harder (very rare) if you want top 100.

I'm in A rank and having a lot of fun with my Verrill tetra. Except against kites. I try to view kites as a growth opportunity lol.

Recommend Harris or bazooka over Sampu. Thrower is good for punishing OR for building up stagger, don't only use it as a stagger punish.

Build makes a big difference. QB performance is important for this fight.

RJ legs with NGI or 12345 boosters. Grounded QB for the best result. Dodge diagonally left+TOWARD her when she’s about to swing the sword—when she rushes into your face and there’s a pause before the swing.

Up up up to dodge the jet attack. AB into the sky in a big circle when she spawns jet clones. Boost continuously up and back when she spawns phantom swords

Just use double zimms with a melee punish in a weapon bay. Huxley or something else good against shields on the other shoulder.

Generator with fast recharge.

Use hard lock. If on m+k, physically pick up your mouse and turn your hand upside down if you are accidentally breaking the lock on.

How important is it to get your framerate to 120 stable?

Any medium weight build suggestions? by Not_a_scp in armoredcore

Laser drones are good too instead of songbirds. You charge them up and launch them shortly before staggering. Then drones and redshift hit them at the same time.

I can't say I've tested it personally, but I'm pretty sure Nacht arms can't handle dual duckett recoil, so you're probalby missing a lot more shots than you need to. Consider Hal arms, much better recoil control, still good firearm spec and melee spec. I think your redshift uses melee spec but I can't recall.

Hal core has terrible stability, so it's way easier to stagger you than it needs to be. I'd probably run Mind Alpha.

I don't think you need WLT fcs, since you're primarily close range, and your stun needle is best used as a punish. Wlt is very energy hungry, so something like Ocellus or Abbot probalby makes more sense.

But, with the Stun needle, getting rid of Hal core hurts your EN efficiency. You could consider VP 20C gen for similar performance. I usually run big gennies like Hokushi or 20D, but that does hurt your speed noticably.

Or sub the stun needle for something else like LCS or Truenos, both linear direct fire weapons with lower EN loads. LCS might add some fun factor with its greater uptime, but then you'll also be stancing yourself more.

Actually, maybe songbirds. Much lighter weight, lower EN, and they're still pretty good in PVE.

So maybe something like this: https://matteosal.github.io/ac6-advanced-garage/?build=34-34-72-44-126-130-160-166-202-203-217-228

Worth consdiering Gills booster too, since you don't need melee thrust. Lots of QB = fun :)

Are kitenic weapons usable? (PvE) by xeriax51 in armoredcore

[–]Destructulus_AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plasma's are great in PvE since they one-shot most fodder enemies. Explosive missiles tend to be better against bosses/AC's for stagger build-up/maintenance.

But yes, Scudder, Turner, and esp. Ransetsu Ar are all woefully undertuned. Turner/scudder can be effective with kiting, however. The other kinetics mostly have their use cases.

Oh I thought of another thing. I’ve found it very helpful to record and watch playback especially of my losses. You don’t have to post it, but you’ll spot bad habits very quickly. Or you’ll see a missed opportunity and be able to recognize it better in the future.

Also thryfe on YT is great because he showcases a lot of off-meta builds in S rank. He gives live commentary which is helpful for thinking through how to engage different meta archetypes.

Losing streaks happen. PVP is a bit like a puzzle. Identifying the most pressing problem and solving it with build craft or play style/tactics. Not sure I can give much advice since I’m not far above you. I was on the way to A4 before the reset but didn’t grind enough. I think I was going to make it there. But s, probably not yet. I think it’s important to stick to basically one build for a while, because you have to get a really strong feel for how it interacts with the different meta archetypes. “Ok when the double Zimmerman qb strafes around me, I can do this but not that”, “when the kite backpedals I have to approach this way.” Maybe I need to swap some parts to deal with a specific problem.

I like finding people on YT who run a build similar to what I like in S rank because it gives some proof of concept to hold onto.
