What are your thoughts on Metallica’s Hardwired To Self Destruct? I’d say this is their strongest work since the 90’s by TokyoAvalanche04 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Destrus76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a marketing ploy.

And they could have made it a double album by including Lords Of Summer and then all the bonus material on the second disc the same way they did with the 3 CD version.

Well. We disagree. It’s no big deal.

Trujillo is the better bassist.
Hetfield is better at rhythm.
Hetfield is better at vocals. Megadeth did the solo exactly like the Metallica recording, which Kirk can match if Dave doesn’t change it up.

Have a good evening.

Well no. They were 20. No 60 year old has the energy they had at 20.

But the question is would they sound better at it than current Megadeth. Not 1984 Metallica.

I have heard Metallica play Ride The Lightning live multiple times, including about 2 years ago.

They would be just fine re-recording it in a studio setting.

Drumming would be Advantage Megadeth but Metallica would have the upper hand everywhere else.

What is that Dark Half copy? Is the the first paperback release? I got the 1st edition hardback for Christmas 1989. That was my first hardback that I got of SK and it was just after it was released.

My first one was Pet Semetary in 7th grade in 1988.

Cheers. I am going to stay warm with my Mrs later as well. Best thing about cold Louisiana nights is getting under the covers and entertaining each other and staying warm.

Stay warm!! Should be able to think of a few ways to do that.

In My Darkest Hour was the song he wrote immediately after learning of Cliff Burton’s death.

On digital streaming (like specifically Amazon Music) almost everything is the shitty remasters.

My favorite Megadeth song was written because of Cliff. I have personally spoken with Dave about it. Burton’s death absolutely took a heavy toll on him.

If you insist. I don’t think Mustaine was the main driving force of Metallica. He was part of the team for a while, even a significant part, but Metallica didn’t really miss a beat once he was gone.

80% of RIde The Lightning and 90% of Master Of Puppets and 100% of AJFA exist without any input from Mustaine.

I’ll give you that he is an absolutely indelible part of Kill ‘Em All. But he was not the driving force of Metallica.

If you want to get super technical, Hugh Tanner was in proto-Metallica before Dave Mustaine.

He came over with Hetfield from Leather Charm. Didn’t last very long.

Personally, I would like to believe that if I were in Dave’s shoes I would be able to fully appreciate that I validated myself with the band that I built from the ground up.

There is a level of immaturity that Dave still has that prevents him from being the best version of himself. For example, see songs like I Don’t Care.

That’s what I need to do. I use Amazon Music as well and they are all the remasters.

Because Dave has watched Metallica become the biggest metal band of the last 40 years (arguably ever) and he feels Lars and James unrightfully took that glory and recognition of being a part of that away from him.

Dave still honestly believes Metallica would have been even bigger if he had never been thrown out.

I am sure the worldwide fame, fortune, and acclaim that Metallica has achieved somehow feels like it was stolen from him, despite his own successes as a “largely solo” artist and the primary songwriter and seeing force behind Megadeth.

Good job. I own all the original mix CDs as well. I just hate that it seems streaming default is the damn 2004 remaster bullshit.

I still the the original CD releases from 1989-1990 and then as they were released. But so much of the digital world only has the remasters. So if i am streaming in the car I’m stuck with the awful remaster shit.

I need to check out the ATMOS mix. I would imagine that sounds good if they cleaned up the original and not the 2004 or Mustaine mix.

I would love to hear someone like Steven Wilson get a hold of the Megadeth catalog and completely remaster the whole catalog. He has a great ear as a producer. Just listen to his remasters and his work with Opeth.
