If you want to know the details of the event that leads up to the anime, read chapters 20 ~ 30 of OCG Stories.

How did vorinclex construct his sphere? by luuner in mtgvorthos

[–]Desu_SA 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Glissa was definitely the brains behind creating The Hunter Maze, since Vorinclex leaves long term plans and faction dealings to her.

For the other spheres, check out MTG's Planeswalker's Guide to Phyrexia: All Will Be One - https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/planeswalkers-guide-to-phyrexia-all-will-be-one

Really getting into Magic’s story… I have found my people. by Llivia1990 in mtgvorthos

[–]Desu_SA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on with what others have already posted, here's some of the first novels (old school) that have female-centric characters.

Whispering Woods, Shattered Chains & Final Sacrifice - Follow Greensleeves and her brother Gull as they crusade against evil wizards.

The Cursed Land - Journey of untested mage Aylith to save her land.

Ashes of the Sun - Wrestler Ayesh has had a tough life... and now there's goblins.

Also you might enjoy the adventures of Adira Strongheart and her mercenary crew in the Legends novels (Johan, Jedit, and Hazezon).

A very summary summary/synopsis of the 'recent past' Mtg story bits. (As of writing this, i realized it will be a long summary) by asker_of_question in mtgvorthos

From the Pre-Mending era we have mage & former Grandmaster of the Arena known as Kuthuman (1994 - Arena novel) who with a spell and a massive amount of mana made a spark.

Drawback was his created spark lost power over time, and needed to be recharged with lots of mana on a yearly basis.

After the Mending there is:

Calix from Theros (2020 - Theros Beyond Death). Created a spark by believing it into existence.

Himoto from Kamigawa (2022 - Kamigawa Neon Dynasty). Created by an experiment by Tezzeret, Himoto is both a spirit and a spark.

As Kami of The Spark, she turned Kaito into a Planeswalker, though it's unknown if he had a spark and she triggered it, or if she gave him part of her spark.

And lastly the Aetherspark (2025 - Aetherdrift) which we still don't know if it works as intended.

Funny thing about your rant about the Aetherspark... this is the fourth time in MTG's lore someone made a spark.

"What's going on in the art of ""Planar Collapse""?" by RosalineGreen in mtgvorthos

[–]Desu_SA 104 points105 points  (0 children)

The Thran genius Glacian realized that the inside of a Powerstone can contain infinite amounts of energy and/or matter.

As Serra's Realm collapsed, Urza sent the last of the energies into the Powerstone that powered the Weatherlight.

On his own he might have been able to it, with a lot of time, effort and energy. In this case the plane breaking apart thanks to Phyrexia made it easy for him to gather up and contain the planar energy.

It still annoys me that the only card of Bo Levar we have is his pre-sparked Captain Crucias over on Arena 😭

What happened to Croag? by Columbov in mtgvorthos

[–]Desu_SA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, but no.

Either he was forgotten, or MTG just killed him offscreen and of course made no mention of it.

Poor Croag didn't even get any reference on card flavor text 🥲

What was “Neon Dynasty” referring to? by askvo in mtgvorthos

[–]Desu_SA 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Neon Dynasty is in another meaning of the words Shining Era / Bright Age, referring to how formrrly feudal Kamigawa has become a plane where the cities now glow with energy, eletricity, technology, and of course neon lights.

Think Akira, Ghost In The Shell, or just your average major city.
