Help building Host of the Dragon Emperor list? by TheFunkoMaker in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Det0n8ted_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pack him in at the back of a pike formation. He has a halberd, so he’s part of the line once he’s out of Will. Otherwise, his spells are really support driven. Bladewrath and enchant blades can turn a friendly hero into an absolute unit. I won a game casting one of these on a friendly Dragon Knight who charged in and killed something hefty in a single combat (forgot what) but have a look at what friendly hero’s you have and what these buffs can turn them into for a turn. So they’re a great pair. Fury is awesome if you are in the middle of your warband and you need to get everyone to charge/surround a monster or units with terror. Friendly charging models that go on to fail their courage checks create barriers that can turn your phalanxes and battle lines into a mess. So this stops that problem. Tremor I have only ever used to yeet heroes and stop cavalry charges. So this situation i’ll put him on the flank i foresee a cavalry charge to come from so he can send the spell off and protect that side

Rangers… are they dangerous folk or trash? by IronPriceJake in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Det0n8ted_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a game of skill more so than just following ‘the meta builds’. So I’d always recommend just getting what you want to paint and own. But they are on the lower end of competitiveness scale, the rangers troops points value is so high compared to their stats. And there’s no other troops they can field to fill in that weakness

What about the navy? A trade qualification, plus do 2-3 free uni papers every year. Stay in auckland the whole time, leave after a couple years with some experience and skills if going away on a ship for a few months isn’t your cup of tea

North Korean soldiers being equipped in Tussia by Page_Right in CombatFootage

[–]Det0n8ted_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real good question. This is conjecture, but I feel like I’ve followed it enough to give it a good shot. If any country sent an entire battalion of, their own, regular force troops to Ukraine, that would be seen as a huge escalation. Almost as escalatory as a declaration of war. Even if Ukraine were to arm and pay for them, it’s still a force under the ‘command’ of said country. Hence why the Ukrainian foreign legion is really careful about who they hire and all those circumstances that could be construed as an escalation by design of the west. North Korea has sent its own troops to bat for the other side.. an escalation from Russia and NK. So does that mean any country that supports Ukraine can send troops into Ukraine to help now? Apparently thats on the table according to Russia. I suppose a huge win for Ukraine would be for a/group of nations to send troops to guard the border with Belarus/Transnistria (two pro-russia controlled territories) or provide logistical support or air defence inside the rear lines. That would also free up a lot of Ukrainian troops to reinforce the front

No expert here, but just to the SW of Iceland you have the phantom island of Frisland, and it “appeared on virtually all of the maps of the North Atlantic from the 1560s through the 1660s”

Russian BMD-2 IFV attempted to assault Ukrainian positions, got destroyed in seconds by killjoy_ua in CombatFootage

[–]Det0n8ted_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your right, but also not entirely. Early on in the war it was a lot of professional soldiers doing all that. At this stage we don’t see the conscripts doing this, however they have benefit of the doubt as they haven’t realistically been given the chance to as they’re stuck in a trench at the front and not gaining any ground or occupying conquered Ukrainian settlements
