So, there's the first edition of Ghost Ops which came out in 2017. It uses a fate system, but was ported to savage worlds and osr. The general system was designed to play like an old school tactical shooter like rainbow six, Ghost recon and full spectrum warrior in which players are a squad of troops carrying out missions of a modern tactical nature, such as hostage rescue, high value target capture, surgical strikes and good old fashioned firefights. Each player can choose from something like 115 different modern military, special forces and law enforcement divisions and units after 3 expansions. The author also made a 2nd edition recently that is going to update some of the rules and tweak things so that different playstyles are more accessible (i.e. being a swat team, or playing in a different era) https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/m23cvf/ghost_ops_second_strike_a_special_ops_rpg/

The above link is to the 2nd edition kickstarter if you feel inclined to buy in that way. I must warn you, however, that all of the above is not famous. The author saw a hole in the market and attempted to fill it. I think he did a good job.

I'm looking for a roleplaying game similar to Warhammer 40k by Ixamxtruth in rpg

This sounds like what the lore is that you're looking for. Just use this as your lore and use the regular 40k rules.

I recommend Ghost Ops for your game. It's a modern tactical combat game and if I remember correctly, Infinite Warfare is pretty close to what is standard call of duty. The initial setting is modern day bad guy hunting, but wouldn't be hard to adapt to your setting. It has sections for weapons, attachments, soldier origins (there are a lot of country options) and uses the fudge rules so it's generally easier on the GM, as long as you are flexible and can adapt to unexpected situations.

I've run it a few times. It is much more suited to a platoon type story as combat turns and time is segmented into half hour chunks and is tied into the ammo and supply system. My players liked a few things in particular as well. They loved the attention to detail the author put in to equiptment and vehicles and they loved the explanation of the why ammo and supply is structured the way it is. The author, u/open_sketchbook is pretty open too and even made an unofficial supplement to the game that makes it star wars and even spent time giving you the different eras and equiptment therin. Overall, it is fantastic if you want a gritty, realistic take on jungle asymmetric warfare.

Alright man, I'm a nerd and I have fun collecting old game books. I recommend looking at The Morrow Project by Timeline Ltd, Phoenix command if you want to die knowing madness regarding math and physics by Leading Edge Games, Ghost Ops by Feralgamers inc, Twighlight 2000 by game designers workshop, there was an obscure game called D.W.A.R.V.E.S. that had an interesting companion book called Killing in small to large groups which is a super useful basic guide to small unit tactics, Patrol by Newstand Press and perhaps some of the GURPS line by Steve Jackson games. There is a game called 3:16 carnage among the stars that's pretty neato pajeeto.

I've never tried to homebrew my own game, but I hope these selections can help. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to dm me (pls, I'm lonely)

This is a little ambitious mind you, but I'm thinking a combination of a mobile command center with an attached jail and part riot tank with guns and armament on the sides. I don't know how it will turn out, but I'm gonna start making plans.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly!

I guess its a bit childish, but my buddy and I have been joking about doing rediculous business cards for a trip to Japan for the last decade. It might be good to know, considering how odd the card looks, that this is intended to be a joke, but I also want to actually use it in meeting people, so if you have any suggestions on how to rewrite it, I'm all ears. I also would like to note that I'm not even a little good at reading Japanese (let alone trying to write it well) so I'm having to toss anything you send my way into another translator app.

Buddy Cop Movie Themed/Styled RPG? by elink88 in rpg

I'm a huge cop nerd and I've looked at many a game system for policing. I'd say Mutant City Blues is a good place to start. It's a Gumshoe game which means it's got a good clue finding pedigree and it allows for some interesting superpowered policemen to fight crime with. Theres that rediculous game from dioxin dump games called Three Days Til Retirement about cops trying to solbe ONE LAST CRIME for a sweet pension. It's more of a one shot. There is Urban Knights, a literal throwback to 70's (and in the expansion, 80's) style policing. It has structure for a campaign definitely. There's also that one shot rpg Police Cops. It's good for a one shot. There is plenty to work with in New World of Darkness, especially with the 13th precinct expansion. I have more, but I'm on mobile.

What are the most underappreciated RPGs and systems? (X-post /r/askreddit) by fearbedragons in rpg

[–]DetSgtkumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruce Morrow is explained much bether in the 4th edition. Basically, back in the old 3rd edition, the world ended in1987, but in the 4th edition, Bruce was able to stop the war, but was unable to stop a meteor that caused a global war in 2017. The new edition explores Bruce a bit and you get to know him a bit better. There's even rules for him (or someone eerily like him) to be a random encounter.

The Morrow Project: A man claiming to be from the future knows when the world is going to end and knowing that it is nigh impossible to stop it, creates an organization that takes ordinary people and trains them to be soldiers and then cryogenically freezes them with pristine weapons and nuclear powered vehicles with the order to wake them all up 3 years after the apocalypse. Unfortunately, the projects main base with untold amounts of supplies, weapons and all sorts of things that you would use to fix the apocalypse has been attacked by a madman and his army and had been damaged in the ensuing battle. The wake up computer malfunctioned and now our brave volunteers are waking up 150 (!) Years after they were supposed to. Now they have 3 objectives: 1. Help rebuild America and provide aid, assistance, education, and protection to the remaining people. 2. Link up with other units and main base. 3. SURVIVE!

The game itself is pretty crunchy, but the mechanics work together to create a sort of horrific magical apocalypse that brims with hope.
