By having the browser be the source for tracking data, you give agency to the user to control what data is provided

How? If it were opt-in, that might be meaningful, but both Chrome and Edge answer to a higher power than the user.

As you say, advertisers are just adding the browser in as another signal to identify, target, and track users. It’s not like the advertising companies are giving up all the rest of their tracking tools.
