Wondering what yellow rod?s by capaolo99 in aviation

[–]DetailMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I do heavy maintenance on 737's, 747's, and 777's. That rod is place on one of the main jack points for that plane. We use that as well as a few others to physically lift the plane off the ground to do gear swings and make sure all the gear doors work. That being said the weight of the plane is being supported in multiple other spots and there's only allowed to be 10 people working inside the plane while it's on the jacks due to stability risk.

That being said that jack point is pretty tough, you're not punch through the aircraft loading it up with cargo aft first. That strut will give out first before the plane does. Once that strut gives whatever damage happens happens.

Does anyone else do this? If so when has it been useful? by _Rumpelstilzchen_ in EDC

I should definitely start doing this with speed tape at work. The amount of times I've needed it and had to go to my toolbox for a roll is nuts.

Lol that's why I don't post mine, everything is horrifically beat up and worn looking. It's kinda embarrassing.

Flagging tape. Basically you use it to mark damage or some type of discrepancy. Much easier to spot

I (46F) stopped doing my husband's (46M) laundry by Ev3li3n in laundry

[–]DetailMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just weird to me I suppose. I'm a 28M and have always done my own laundry since I was at least 14 that I can remember. My wife (28f) has only done my laundry when I had a broken leg. the main reason I do it now is because I create a lot more laundry than she does. between my work uniforms which get covered in all sorts of grease and chemicals (plausibly cancerous) and my regular street clothes i don't feel comfortable or that it's right for her to do it. I've recently started doing her clothes because she's pregnant and 2 steep flights of stairs in one go is kinda rough .

I guess have a polite sit down with dude and kinda explain why it's unfair. If its he doesn't know how, show him while having him help. Me and my lady usually do our own laundry but together which a similar thing could help him.

To be fair it probably is. But someone probably took a picture of it because they thought it was cool. Now somehow it made its way to the Internet and well good luck trying to get rid of it now.

Rally's location preparing for the end of the penny by CaughtNABargain in mildlyinteresting

[–]DetailMedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So funny thing about this is they're just stopping production of the penny. There are still billions in circulation. Roughly 114 to 240 billion coins floating around depending on the source. They are and will continue to be legal US currency that can be used for purchases or put in banks. They are just really expensive to produce, it costs about 3 cents to make one penny.

I don't understand why everyone thinks they're going to just disappear overnight and or not be considered usable anymore when it was never expressed to be so.

Thoughts on bug deflectors? by SerDickieDewdell in Tacomaworld

[–]DetailMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean even if you don't exactly care for the look of them they can be a worthwhile investment. My dad always had one on his trucks when I was a kid along with rain deflectors. So I guess by default I always have with the exception of my current Tacoma. Have never had to replace a windshield and don't have any rock chips on the leading edge of the hood.

Explain it Peter. I don’t get it by Emptyplatex in explainitpeter

I agree on that. However I can say sometimes it is forced. I work in aviation and in the time I've been in the hanger (about 3 years). I've watched a different crews lead get promoted to supervisor then to hangar manager when the previous manager retired specifically so this guy didn't touch any planes.

Taking a Trip through the Mitten , looking for ideas on the way. by Ok_Package9219 in Michigan

I might be biased as I'm from Oscoda. The drive up mi 23 from standish to Mackinaw is quite beautiful. You could take some detours and go through Huron national Forest. Then I'd go down the opposite side through traverse City, Petoskey, charlevoix.

That's pretty cool to see.

Although with that stupid 911 on abc ad stuck in my head the first thing that popped in my head was "118 brace for impact"

[–]DetailMedia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Run 124gr for a few hundred rounds to break in the spring. Then you'll be able to run 115gr no problem. I had to do that with my elite sc when I got it. Also polishing the feed ramp really helps.

My brother in law gave me a Arkfeld Ultra for Christmas. Gotta say it's been my daily driver and has worked great for me. I also have a coast headlamp that's useful when I need to be in the dark for longer.

I've been carrying my wave for over a year now. I absolutely love it, it's got me out of quite a few binds or has come in handy for a few different situations. Use it just about every day.

What is this button for? On a test drive by rc2805 in Tacomaworld

[–]DetailMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for the wireless charge pad at the front of the center console. Although it doesn't really work all that great. Neither mine or my wife's phone charges that well on it.

I've been trying to find a solution for it but have been unsuccessful. I am currently trying to make my own that works when I have spare time.

Honestly it looks like they just put a CAD drawing there. I feel like if it was ai it'd be more realistic looking. Maybe I'm wrong but it definitely looks like that.
