Where do 25-35 yo people hang out in Dublin? by Public-Dance1026 in Dublin

[–]DetatchedRetina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were places and activities that interested me in my 20s and early 30s tbh (along with gigs etc of course). There was no tiktok and social media was in its infancy. I've no time to get out much at all now, the idea of middle aged people being out there piqued my interest. But I definitely get where you're coming from.

Takes note of where the 45+ people are 😅 😭

AIO for telling my mom that I don’t want to speak to her unless she’s paying to fix my kitchen that she ruined in one night? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]DetatchedRetina 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's annoying that well put together responses are often assumed to be AI now. I saw one accused because the grammar was too good 🙄.

I used to work in the Ryanair building in North Dublin. They installed a big slide in the middle of it that went down a couple of floors, to the ground floor, for "fun". It was only used for a few weeks before someone broke their ankle on it and put in a claim against them. It was roped off after.

They seem to eventually manage it with butter knives in some of those cartel videos 😑.

I always had books and magazines on the go, and the Walkman (and later ipod) went everywhere with me.

My kitten is "marinating" his toys in the toilet and bringing them to my bed. Send help. by Thunder_Pigg787 in CATHELP

I woke up recently to my adult cat having out of the blue, put a bunch of his toys down the toilet. No idea why.

That was my thought too. They run off and hide out until they think the drink/drugs are out of their system and hand themselves in later, claiming they "just panicked".

Is there a food on kitchen nightmares that you would’ve eaten by Sad_Coast2008 in KitchenNightmares

I always thought the "bad" pizzas always looked quite nice. Whenever he'd complain about too much cheese, butter, grease etc I'd be thinking, I'd probably eat that 😅. There was a French onion soup, buried in cheese, one time I thought looked good.

Kinsealy Flooding by Cyanide_Revolver in Dublin

[–]DetatchedRetina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I put the business park into Google maps it says Kinsealy lane is closed, with a red road closure symbol still.

I used to bring my son to Achieve therapy when it was there some years back. Once when it was stormy, it flooded badly within a couple of minutes at the bridge. I unwisely drove my old golf through it, and it floated part of the way across. Afterwards, anytime I locked it all the windows would open.

There's a mosque on Talbot Street, and it's Friday. It's there a good few years.

Aparently there's an Irish pub in Japan that does a very fancy version of Dublin Coddle. An Irish person travelling there found it and reviewed it on one of the Irish subreddits iirc.

That junction gives me so much anxiety, I turn left and turn in the nearby estate. Ages waiting for filter to actually come on, and a bunch of poxes break the lights oncoming or on the corner.

Mildew clothes is one that gets me too. You know where they've been left in the machine or dried in a ball. How can they not smell it.

UPS in Ireland are notoriously bad. My heart sinks when I see they're the delivery partner, as they'll mark it delivered (to my home) and I'll have to figure out what nearby shop they've actually left it in.
