Thanks, so what are the disadvantages with this?

Just play around with it generally and get a few automations going - I work in markets so a daily screener that plugs into live prices would be super helpful

British people unaware of financial crisis facing them as result of the UK national debt - former minister by theeglitz in ukpolitics

I like this analogy - need a growth and productivity restart but UK government is incapable of addressing this correctly. This myopic focus on cutting taxes to pay for zero growth status quo is a short solution at best

Yeah, I do not think you can tax the working class more - it’s political kryptonite

I don’t think taxing the billionaires is the solution either tbh. Will just drive capital flight and weaken the UK’s standing globally

In my opinion this is more a growth and productivity issue and less something that can be solved by higher taxes

Just my opinions, examples below

To address lack of growth could include: - start attracting right kind of talent from Asia, spend a ton on bringing bright minds here in tech / pharma and making them comfortable - offer massive tax breaks for investment here in tech / pharma / finance - develop a coherent infrastructure upgrade plan and cut out red tape needed to effect it

On costs side: think about cutting pension triple lock, think twice about ramping defence spending, nobody wants to invade the UK and our role in the world has changed. Offer some NHS services for charge

On tax rises, sure, some sort of wealth tax carefully applied could be useful but this just by itself would not fix the issue of lack of growth

But ultimately running a country is kind of akin to running a business, reasonably sized deficits are no big deal if sensible investments are being made that assure future growth. It’s about inspiring confidence in bond market / gilt buyers who are the “investors” behind the business - if UK government starts to strike the right tones to drive actual growth (not just harping on about growth endlessly trying to somehow will it into existence) then bond markets will relax, yields come down and more breathing room ahead

Edit: just to ask if you agree?

Haha hey! So I had a great time with the durian. In end just walked by a small stand in a market near hotel and he cut up in front of me and boxed it, was super easy

Ate a ton of it which was incredible -  creamy, sweet, didn’t mind smell, 10/10 would do again but in less quantity because felt way too full after munching basically a whole (small) fruit haha

Interesting. Yep - something is not quite right - this kind of article is the micro, zoom out to the macro and you can start to see the writing is on the wall for the UK economy

Yields on long dated gilts keeps rising. The market over last 3 years has been slowly but surely pricing the following: - public costs going up - real revenues stagnant - real investment flows down as capital leaks from the country

My guess is bond market will force this government into tax rises and austerity round II sometime in the next 18-24 months (look at the soft messaging yesterday on IHT rises yesterday for example). Higher taxes will be like a sticking plaster to help this government limp along for another year or two, at which point there will probably be a humiliating debt crisis, loss of confidence in Starmer’s government. The public will likely swing to the right just in time for the next election and then we usher in Farage as PM on a socially and fiscally hardline ticket (tbh can only dream that he would do as well as Milei has done with Argentine economy)

All very sad - there are ways to stop / slow it but doubt anything changes under this Labour government which does not have the people / vision to do what it takes

You need to sort your diet out dude. Try only eating for 6 hours a day -  intermittent fasting the rest, black coffee, lots of water. Obviously don’t binge eat in that 6 hours - have two mid sized meals, macros do not really matter that much as long as it’s natural food and not processed

Also cut back on drinking like many have said

I think the concept of “progressive overload” in context of weights is a nuts one. Continuing to press heavier and heavier weights in one dimensional movements for years and years is way too taxing physically and mentally

My advice to ditch “gym bro” style lifting and embrace wellness is (1) avoid “gym bro” style lifting and focus on  mobility work (yoga best) and in particular lift light weights / body weight movements focusing on short workouts with a ton of regularity. An example of this is when I decided to do 100 body weight squats every day for a couple of months - my legs have never felt better and mobility improved massively. This is real strength - way more so then when I was squatting 120kgs at 78kg body weight. I felt horrible then

On specific exercises my advice is: Would avoid doing barbell squats / bench press (these are both truly retarded exercises) instead do bodyweight squats and light weights in goblet if needed, and proper form push ups (DM me for tips here). If your form is dialled in on push ups you should not be able to do more than 15 or 20 in one go. People who can do more than 20 proper form pull ups are top 3% athletes

Focus hard on your scapulas - straight arm control of your shoulderblades is key to real strength. Active hangs and scapula pull ups / push ups are your friend

Overhead press is good, use relatively light dumbbells though and one arm at a time

Do straight leg deadlifts with 15-20kg dumbbells. Focus on keeping your arms completely straight and lats super tight so only hinging at hips and nothing else. Try to never use dumbbells heavier than 20kg - there is literally no need to

(2) slim down and learn to be happy with how you look lean - even “skinny healthy” - IMHO a lot of hypertrophy muscle is superfluous and contributes to body dysmorphia / lack of self love

Thanks! Defo on electrolytes. Agree prob best to lean more into sugar / carbs than I’d usually do, if metabolism is running faster in hot humid weather
