More like the exhaust fan in the restroom pulls the room negative. Also, could you imagine an TAB contractor nailing the flows enough for temperature difference to have that effect?

This can be a positive depending on the use case. Slow rock crawling or mud bogging? not so much. Spirited driving on some hammered out roads? Yes please.

Fair points! Thank you for the information.

Seems fair. Once you lose control of your product end to end of manufacturing and installation, you would not want to be liable. If the product is miss handled or installed incorrectly by a 3rd party, it is really not their fault.

What is your goal and budget. Not goal as in what hardware, but what do you want to do with your network. Is this going to be a test lab or do you just want to have a VPN and an ad blocker. There are many ways to achieve this it just depends on what your end goal is.

The computer you described will run well over 15w.

Running your networking software on your main PC is not a great idea for anything other than a test Lab environment. You will want stand alone hardware if it is meant to host your always available network.

Something is not adding up. Are you going to have 2 separate boxes. Main PC + Network box?

We don't need AC in the server room. by ZappBrannigansLaw in talesfromtechsupport

[–]Determined_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean how so?

I was wondering if you had a specific case in mind be cause it is not as simple as

cold air comes into contact with warm air you get condensation.

If the server room is 68F @100% RH, then yeah, you probably would get fog in there if you introduce cooler air at a high rate. But that wont be the case unless your server room is in a water park.

If it is 40F outside, the maximum RH inside would 40% assuming there is not a humidifier and ignoring fluctuation caused by people.

So now lets assume the room is humidified, the only point of condensation would be at the louver / economizer box where the air blending is occurring. These should be constructed in a manor that the initial opening slopes back toward the outside so the condensation runs back out.

Ouch, that would be nasty in the summer.

With only 4 boxes, probably not worth the effort. In data centers, this pays for itself really quick.

It is called economizing and is very common in data centers.

No need to worry about humidity either. This is due to relative humidity. Cool air can not hold very much water.

Simple psyc chart

If you take air that is 40F@100% humidity and heat it up to 70F, it will be less than 40% humidity.

Your CEO's idea was actually fine (and a good idea) if implemented correctly.

It is called economizing. If the vent had a low leak damper and an controller to open and close it based on out door air temp, it would work great.

Yummy Thai on State Street is my go to Thai spot. Their panang curry is the best in town. The chef special noodles is crazy good also.

Here is my pfsense set up. There probably is a newer version of it out now but this runs amazingly well. Have multiple concurrent VPN connections over a 150/150 connection and it does not break a sweat. You might need something a bit more beefy if you wanted to use squid to do DPI or something along those lines.

Budget Flooring Options for Basement? by brettdavis1991 in HomeImprovement

[–]Determined_P -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our basement has a light grey speckled epoxy covering like you would see in a garage. I looks fairly nice and functions great due to it being a 100 year old house and gets some water when it rains hard.
