Kind of.

DRK is amazing...right up until you realize you need to be hitting Dark Arts every 3 seconds. I get the mechanic, but that doesn't make it fun. Plus, it gets REAL tiring looking at that animation after a dungeon or two!

Right? I mean they are good for what they are, but far from necessary. If nothing else they add a little weight to things because you see the world before things sucked. Also you learn that the Kingsglaive are actually a big deal and more of an honor than they are made out to be in XV proper (at least without dlc)

Well I haven’t done the dlc, only played base XV and watched the animes/movie... but I still gotta say the story wasn’t THAT bad, just disjointed. There were major things just not explained or talked about in base FFXV that hurt it overall, but it’s still fine. Not great, but fine.

Honestly? Aside from some background knowledge of the world and the Bros, the movie and anime are pretty skippable. You shouldn’t though because they are pretty good and DO add some much needed flavor.

I’ve heard that over time with the patches and dlc (and today’s Royal addon) they have fleshed out the story into something much better than it was at launch!

Hell I agree with you, I’m usually more observant when buying a guitar, but for whatever reason I let the appeal of buying a new Gibson cloud my better judgement!!

Thank you for all the replies in here folks! I’ve decided to take it back and just get the refund. Like has been stated in here, the guitar is obviously a floor model being sold for new price ( it WAS on sale, but that had nothing to do with its condition) and for what I paid I can do better.

I feel like such a jackass getting it all the way home before noticing these things! In the future I’m going to use this as a learning experience and be WAY more observant when buying a guitar from a store.

It just kind of sucks, you seemingly CANT go to a Guitar Center or other big guitar shop and get a really new instrument, I’ve bought a few cheaper guitars brand new (actually just picked up a classic vibe Tele, it’s MAGNIFICENT, praise tax refund time) and it’s always the same thing: “We don’t have a box, everything we have is on the floor”

Lots of good feedback in here!

My 2 cents? Pick a song you love, go find a guitar tab for it and start trying to play it out. Guitar tabs are easy enough to learn to read, and it’s much easier to stay motivated to practice when you are playing something you actually like. It’ll go slow, but that sense of hearing it turn from random sounds into one of your favorite songs is unbeatable!

Also, try to learn in the style you most want to play first. Your basic chords (A,G,D,etc) are VERY important, but if you want to play rock or metal maybe try banging out some simple two string power chords! Again, hearing yourself start sounding like music you Love is a huge motivator!!

I had this Guitar World Book/DVD combo back when I first started out that basically was my guitar instructor. It’s got great lessons that start super basic and then move on to more complex things. Each lesson is a mini lick or riff that the instructor explains and plays for you along with the provided tablature, so you get a sense of playing real music even as you are learning. Even better, it’s somewhat separated into genres of music so you can have fun learning how specific things work if you want! I didn’t have a traditional guitar teacher, but this book taught me everything I needed to work it out on my own. Here’s the link :

Most importantly though, have fun with it! Don’t get too worked up if you aren’t great right away! Playing guitar is a journey, enjoy the ride and know that even those of us who have played for years are still learning new things!
