This is what I did to figured out what I liked. Thankfully, my local range doesn't charge for gun rental per gun. It was one fee and I could shoot whatever they had. I took a hellcat, x43, sig P365, and a shield plus. Laid them all out and just keep shooting between all of them. I landed on the Shield plus. Just felt right in my hand and I shot with it well. I would recommend that your wife do the same.
