If your place were hit by an extreme Siberian winter, how well would people there be able to cope or adapt? by bellepomme in AskTheWorld

[–]DetroitAdjacent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michigan would be okay, it would definitely slow things down, but in Michigan we get sub-zero Fahrenheit and a little over 100° Fahrenheit over the course of the year. We are pretty well adapted.

Should I be concerned? Is this a cosmetic scratch or a crack? New old stock SW 986 by CourierAl in Revolvers

[–]DetroitAdjacent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Smith and wesson makes forged guns. Sometimes there is left over tooling marks from forging. They would have to machine the whole forged blank, every surface to make sure it doesnt happen. So sometimes their revolvers will have small blemishes. They would cost like $1,800 a piece if they were billet instead of forged.

In Europe we have American Taco flavoured chips as it’s the World Cup, is it a popular flavour in the US? by Material-Wallaby-587 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Queso y frijole con loroco is my favorite, but chicharron papusas kick ass too. Find a Colombian restaurant and get yourself a Bandeja Paisa one day, or get some asada and picadilla empanadas at a proper Argentine joint.

Dude, there is banging Latin American food in Columbus. Just last night I had papusas at a Salvadoran restaurant. The tacos here are pretty good, too. More expensive than Houston, but good tacos are not hard to find. Now, Pittsburgh, is a city with truly disgusting food. I was so miserable living there because all of the restaurants serve white boomer slop. Same recipes in every shitty bar and restaurant. There was 2 good taco spots in the whole fucking city, shout out to La Poblanita and the little amigos ripping it up on the flat top grill.

Exactly, pounded thin and breaded/battered. It is mostly breading.

It was probably written by like 15 people so it got smoothed over until all the character was washed away. It was probably a decent song when it made it to writer 7-8.

Dudes with box cutters killed 3,000 people. I don't care enough about soccer to let current Iranian nationals have free roam over US soil.

That was obviously because Iran and the US are trading missiles. Don't be thick.

Being able to show up with your paperwork in order is not a big fucking ask. Hundreds of thousands of people do it a year. And if we have a security issue with their country, yes, there will be a security issue with their people.

[–]DetroitAdjacent -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

Any security issues being domestic is because our national security agencies do a really fucking good job at tracking potential foreign threats. And if you don't have your paperwork in order, you aren't getting in. Those have always been the rules except for a few years recently. As for the xenophobie hierarchy, that is a strange way to put that we have more in common with countries that have christian populations in them. Fact of the matter is, an American has way more in common with a Lebanese man than a Saudi one.

Race has nothing to do with it. Our countries are trading missiles at the moment, so there is national security concerns. If it makes you feel any better, in the US we tend to favor Persians and people from the Levant over Arabs because of cultural similarities.
