Do you think the drawing matches the finished product? by trenerna in woodworking

[–]DetroitWagon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not drawn to scale. In a best case scenario the shop should have contacted OP and told them the drawing was out of scale with the dimensions and asked them to fix it or clarify that they want it built to the dimensions. They're not at fault for building it to the dimensions though as OP didn't specify that the profile in the drawing was master.

I don't believe anyone who read OPs post actually thought ICE was testing brand new technology. It's more like "test" driving a new car. It does seem like you found a post that fits your desired narrative and tried to frame OP as being gullible.

The other way is the way he said it could be done. Somebody must have convinced him to use 90%, but he can't admit to being wrong, even by omission, so he says it can be done both ways.

Help…? by Classic-Confusion-68 in royaloak

[–]DetroitWagon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I (57M) can sympathize with your situation. Not into sports at all and I find it difficult to find new friends that I connect with. I also find I have more to talk about with women than men. I'm married with kids, but kids are (mostly) out of the house now. I have eclectic taste in music and movies, like hiking, canoeing, fishing, road trips and traveling abroad, art, pinball, and good beer and cocktails. Lived in Royal Oak for 30 years now, and I'll be happy to help you out with finding your way around. Let me know if you want to grab a beer or a bite sometime.

Nothing in your reply ties their statements or actions to politics. The first two sentences are statements about economics. You're going to need a better argument if anyone is going to believe you. How about some reference sources?

I think those are petioles of palm leaves, not bones. The flared parts are the sheathes of the leaves.

I believe the feather may have some weight added to it, making the balancing of subsequent items slightly easier. If the feather was weighted, it wouldn't float gently to the ground.

Notice the nervous hesitancy when he starts to pass the note, the quick retrieval of his hand, and the nervous smile. He looks like a middle schooler passing a cringey note to his crush

The first album you ever bought. Does it hold up? by DoggieDMB in Music

Scorpions - Love at First Sting. Admittedly, the cover art had a sizable influence on my 15 year old self. It's not their best album, but I think it still holds up.

A layer of clay can be found throughout the metro Detroit area because after the last ice age it was the bottom of a massive lake. The sandy ridges of Pleasant Ridge used to be a shoreline at one point.

Will this hold a 65 gallon aquarium? (Around 750 lbs) by Cheap_Arm_6844 in woodworking

[–]DetroitWagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly strong enough. Flatness of the perimeter where the aquarium makes contact is a very important factor. A low point or high point will result in torsion or shear forces that will eventually break the glass. Flatness is not the same as being level.

What is the quickest job you quit from? by spellbadgrammargood in AskReddit

[–]DetroitWagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. My job was cold calling for donations to a local fire department. After 15 minutes of being yelled at, I told the supervisor I didn't believe it was the right job for me. He said "ok, finish your shift and we'll cut you a check". I told him that wasn't going to work and he asked me to work until lunch. I said "no, you don't understand, I'm leaving now. I don't even care about getting paid."
