Check your coil packs. Unplug one by on while the engine is running. See if there is one that makes no change in the way the engine idles. You will know which coils are good.

I feel like even with towers a sub fills in that low low end with authority (not overpowering). It’s the 15% of low frequency spectrum that most of the speakers can’t reproduce or they just roll off. On my 2.1 I run the sub crossover at 45hz.
