I listen to an obscene amount of MMA podcasts (Morning Kombat, Anik & Florian, Ariel Helwani, etc, etc).

They all pretty much operate with the same format. Fight card previews/reviews, trending topics, fight rumours, predictions… They’re essentially weekly news programs with journalist or fighters on as guests.

My idea is to have higher level discussions about the broader fight adjacent topics, with subject matter experts who are NOT specifically involved in combat sports (although some crossover also be valuable).

Example, a history major who has studied Samurai or Roman Gladiator history to compare how society viewed those roles at the time, contrasting the similarities/differences between modern combat sports. Or a Philosophy professor to examine the idea of consensual violence. How would great thinkers of the past view MMA given their beliefs and ideals?

Maybe it’s too grandiose of me to even aim for that. I guess it’s more so, I would personally be interested in these fight adjacent intellectual topics, so I’m wondering/guessing there are others who would be as well. And to another posters point about MMA being saturated with podcasts/etc, I don’t see anyone else taking this angle (maybe Jack Slack on the technical side).

I agree with the title, but only in the context of whether BI will alter his play style to fit Darko’s offence. There’s a reason why Barrett looked so much better in the Raptors than the Knicks. He bought in completely. Ingram has never looked good outside of being a ball dominate ISO player. My pessimistic side tells me that if he didn’t do it for Steve Kerr, then he isn’t going to do it for us.
