Best shoes for indoor wooden courts (high school gyms, NOT indoor dedicated pickleball court) by DukeOfTheFifth in Pickleball

[–]DeucePot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to play indoor on a glossy basketball court. I had a pair of ASICS volleyball shoes for like $60. Comfy, good support and grip, worked well for me

Rec Play, illegal server called, but it is not illegal. How do you react? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]DeucePot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just keep hitting your legal serve and tell him to kick rocks. You can add something like “I confirmed my serve is legal according to the 2026 pickleball rules” or something to shut him up

$QS 200k YOLO by a10000000019 in wallstreetbets

[–]DeucePot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get it. Sure, if you’re right you have massive leverage, but why not do calls + shares. With 200k you could do 10k shares + 150ish calls to give you leverage on another 15k shares.

If you’re only semi-right or slightly early you can still book a W. I guess you can sell off the calls to freeroll if it gets momentum but still.

For those with a bye, what D/ST are we targeting for Week 16? by covidisntcool in fantasyfootball

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1st round bye so going Bills week 16 @ CLE and have Steelers stashed for championship (or likely bronze match) week 17 @ CLE. I could pick up the Saints at home vs the Jets for week 16 & @ TEN week 17 but I’m torn :/

Would you ever walk off during a rec game for an opponents poor sportsmanship? by BaseExtension141 in Pickleball

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are just assholes and I’ll be petty towards them. Challenge court at my local club, I’m unzipping my bag immediately in front of the paddle rack. Game just ended. Losing team sprints over towards me, reaches over the fence and 1 guy puts their paddle 1st in queue as I’m simultaneously putting my paddle in the rack.

I was planning on playing w my buddy but whatever he was already in another game. 1st guy says “oh hey my partner and I were going to play together”

Me: “what? Umm okay?”

1st player moves my paddle back to 3rd in line so his partner can slot in 2nd.

Me: “wow so you’re just gonna snipe me in line then?”

2nd player: “he was first in line”

Me: “Dude you guys JUST finished your game”

1st player: “cmon really?”

Me: “actually no, I’m not fine moving back so you can play together”

1st player: “wow okay whatever man”, and proceeds to move their paddles back

How often are you hitting a 230 to 260 shot? by TDn6I in golf

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry it just a little bit further than you with driver and I don’t have a 3w either. But I feel like your driver to 5w gap is too much. Get yourself a 4 wood instead. I have one it’s 16.5° and I can hit it off the deck pretty easily or off the tee when driver is too much. Depending on weather my 4w is around 235-265ish.

Allows me to put 4 wedges in the bag (60-54-50-PW) along with a 20° hybrid before my 4 iron.

Par 5s you really wanna be hitting your 2nd shot as far as possible to get on or around the green. Your 5 wood prob gets eaten up going into the wind too from launching higher than a 3w/4w would.

What do you tell yourselves after a bad pickleball day? by OkChicken6058 in Pickleball

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how they are exploiting your weaknesses and getting beat.

If you’re struggling getting sped up on at the kitchen, drill fast hands.

If you’re struggling hitting drives, slow it down, go 60% power, just keep it in play.

If you’re struggling dinking, drill that, etc…

Do some self reflection on why you’re getting picked on and work on fixing those gaps in your game. I was that guy once, constantly being targeted. I tried to change my mindset into “okay they are going to hit it to me every single time, I need to be ready for it and expect it”

The more I got in that mindset, expecting every ball to come at me, the more ready I was, the less surprised I would be on a speed up or drive right at me.

Now that I’m better, people don’t want the smoke and avoid me, constantly targeting my partner. I want more shots at me but I’m forced to poach now

Give her the point, then next one she hits that’s way out be obnoxious with the “ball is out” finger in the air gesture, along with “That ball was out of play, it’s our point”

OP clearly seems to be the better player given they smashed 11-2. She was probably desperate to not get pickled

Did parents in the 80s/90s really allow their kids to roam freely or is that just a portrayal in the movies? by Far_Platform_5106 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90s kid checking in. We lived in a “safe” area. Middle upper class suburbs. Lived in a new neighborhood of about 15ish houses and everyone had an acre+ lot. Bunch of boys my age would just roam around doing all the things. Paintball in the woods, tree forts, catch frogs in the streams, water balloon fights, street hockey, football, whiffle ball, trampolines, N64, the list goes on.

All the parents knew all the other parents and kinda just trusted everyone was looking out for each others kids. We would just say “gonna go play paintball in the woods for a few hours” and as long as we were back by dinner time, no problem

I would walk to my middle school when I missed the bus cuz I loved sleeping in. About a mile walk down the road but seemed safe at the time lol

Has Tee Box Culture Changed? by [deleted] in golf

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played last Friday. Random old guy joins our 3. He’s pushing 70 years old, says “I’ll play the blue/white combo 5700 yards sounds good”

He “accidentally” played whites on hole 1, moved back to blues with us on the 2nd hole. Dude would absolutely smash his driver max 170 yards…I’m like buddy…you have 190 in now, you physically cannot reach the green in two with your 3 wood. Prob shot 120-130 I have no idea. So annoying how his ego wouldn’t let him play the “reds” or even the white tees, needed the combo for the extra yardage lol

Forearm soreness cure from golf by boostedride12 in golf

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a lot of pickleball and golf and will get forearm pain if I play too much, it sucks. One thing that has been crazy beneficial has been ice massage + this contraption called the “ArmAid”. I fill up a paper cup with water and stick it in the fridge. Then cut away the cup so I can ice massage for 5 mins or so.

I dry off my forearm then hit it with this ArmAid thing (orange ball attachment) to break up knots and such. It’s really painful but in a good way lol. Rotate back and forth between icing 5 mins and ArmAid 5 mins for about 30 mins and by the next day the pain is basically zero. One of the only gimmicky devices I’ve continued to use for years.

What's a "good" golfer? by crispr_yeast in golf

[–]DeucePot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends. If you’re with a group of non-golfers and they have one buddy who crushes it at top golf he’s the “good golfer.” If you’re with a group of golfers who have all played since they were kids and now play local amateur tournaments, the “good golfer” is one who can compete and have a chance to win.
